Somebody put out a performance of this guy and captures all the emotion and amazing level of musicianship this man channels. It's absolutely hair raising. If you have never seen John live, this is the next best thing. A must have for anyone interested in Delta Style Blues. His reverence for the music and the musicians who wrote it is there for all to see. Savor this.

5 stars Hammond Pulls Out All The Stops
John Hammond fans have waited many years throughout the Beta and VHS eras for a concert. In this typical acoustic gig, he shows himself to be a master guitarist, vocalist, and harmonica player. Lots of anecdotes and short history lessons in between songs in English and hesitant French in front of a very appreciative Parisian audience. A couple of mid-song fumbles only add to the charm of the event. Hey, the blues ain't about lip-synching and glitzy light shows. The rafters can still shake with just an acoustic guitar. Great DVD.

This performance was recorded on February 19th 2004 at the "New Morning" club in Paris, one of the most important European Jazz clubs. Singer & guitar virtuoso John Hammond shines as one of the most distinguished ambassadors of the Blues: the foundation of rock, folk and pop music. His many ardent fans never miss an opportunity to catch Johns latest grand epic repertoire. This hot night in 2004 at the New Morning was just such an occasion. Four cameras captured the spectacular performance professionally, on digital tape. Sound engineers ensured perfect stereo sound in Dolby Digital 5.1.
