| | Eurythmics Ultimate Collection CD (2005)
Lost In The Beauty Of Innocence
$9.95 Eurythmics: David A. Stewart, Annie Lennox. Besting 1991's GREATEST HITS with a longer track list and the inclusion of two new recordings, the Eurythmics' ULTIMATE COLLECTION is a definitive exhibition of the band's best songs. The Eurythmics were always a singles band, and a set such as this--with indelible hypnotic/robotic grooves like "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) alongside the synth-pop melancholia of "Here Comes the Rain Again" and raucous neo-soul like "Would I Lie to You?"--helps one appreciate how much great work the duo produced. By the late '80s and into the '90s, the Eurythmics sound favored sweeping balladry and smooth, loungy productions (the closer of the set, "Was It Just Another Love ...

| | Michael Buble Crazy Love CD (2009)
Lost In The Beauty Of Innocence
$14.49 Photographer: Ben Watts. Buoyed by the popularity of the hit contemporary pop ballad "Home," singer Michael Bublé's 2005 album, IT'S TIME, clearly positioned the vocalist as the preeminent neo-crooner of his generation. Easily the singer's most stylistically wide-ranging album so far, 2009's CRAZY LOVE is also one of his brightest, poppiest, and most fun. Bublé kicks things off with the theatrical, epic ballad "Cry Me a River" and proceeds to milk the tune with burnished breath, eking out the drama line by line. It's over the top for sure, but Bublé takes you to the edge of the cliff, prepares to jump, and then gives you a knowing wink that says, not quite yet -- there's more fun to be had. And what fun it is with Bublé swinging through "All of Me," and killin' Van Morrison's classic "Crazy Love" ...

Lost In The Beauty Of Innocence
$15.89 TWINEMEN are Dana Colley, Billy Conway, and Laurie Sargent.Twinemen are a new band that combine improvisation and organic soul chemistry with a deep respect for the song to create music that is difficult to describe, and yet resonates with a warm sense of familiarity. Their manifesto is to continue to create unusual music, and Dana and Billy have a credible history of just that from their years with the band Morphine. Twinemen were brought together after the death of their friend and bandmate, Mark Sandman, leaving Dana and Billy without the band they had been a part of for ten years, with five records, (Rykodisc,Dreamworks ) a Grammy® nominated video and relentless worldwide touring. This is their first original project since Morphine. In the year after Mark's death they put together Orchestra Morphine, a nine piece rollicking celebration of the work of Morphine, and toured the US and Italy. One of the members of Orchestra Morphine was singer Laurie Sargent, and with her the seeds were sown for the music that would become Twinemen. The Twinemen along with Kufala Recordings will be releasing a series of live recordings along with their 2003 tour. " A studio recording is a snapshot of that time but songs grow up and change each time that they are performed and that is why we want to make these live performances available to our fans." pronounced drummer Billy Conway. The initial recordings, Live in Madison 01.02.03 and Live in Chicago 02.02.03 are currently available here, at www.twinemen.com and www.kufala.com."At times the band, augmented by additional guitarists, bass, keyboards, horns, and organs, are a sprawling machine. Yet they're always smooth-running, creating an easy path into the songs -and a tricky one."-Wes Orshoski/Billboard"This is a ultra-sophisticated band that knows no boundaries. Although known for baritone sax on a hypnotic, Dead type number, while Sargent showed new versatility by offering a brilliant spoken word rap and adding a song in French. The music also rocked with an urgent dynacism at times. An enthralling new band."-Steve Morse/The Boston Globe
