| | Jamie Foxx Unpredictable CD - Import Jamie Foxx Discography of CDs
Limited edition Japanese pressing. Long before he was an Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx was a classically trained pianist and nightclub performer. Unpredictable is Foxx's second solo album, following 1994's Peep This, and it's even longer on baby-making slow jams like 'Three Letter Word' and 'Do What It Do', which suffer from the disconcerting sense that a silky croon is enough to impress anyone who knows Foxx only from the movies. | | Michael Jackson Bad CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Special Edition
Unpredictable CD music
$7.59 Digitally remastered by Bernie Grundman (Bernie Grundman Mastering, Los Angeles, California).
Jackson's domination of the world record market continued following Thriller, although by comparison it was an almighty flop with only 12 million sales. As Pink Floyd and Dire Straits have proved, one album can go completely sales haywire without necessarily being any better. The title track and the gorgeous "Man In The Mirror" were substantial hits, but quality material such as "Dirty Diana" and "Liberian Girl" bolster a strong album. Jackson also seemed to have found the romance he seeks in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel." Regardless of his press, history clearly shows that he has made a lot of people very, very happy.

| | Silky Soul Music: An All-Star Tribute To Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly CD (2009)
Unpredictable music CDs
$10.19 A San Francisco-based smooth R&B act with roots in Philadelphia soul, Maze (usually billed as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly) never managed to break with a larger mainstream audience during their late-`70s to early `80s peak, but nevertheless garnered a devoted following in urban radio as one of the progenitors of the romantic, understated style known as "quiet storm." And the group's jazz-funk sophistication can certainly be felt in contemporary R&B and neo-soul styles of the `90s and `00s, ...

| | Platters All-Time Greatest Hits CD (2004) Remastered
Unpredictable album
$11.99 Recorded between 1956 & 1967. Includes liner notes by Fred Bronson.
While this single-disc distillation of the Platters' biggest hits is superb, it's almost identical to Rhino's 1998 comp Enchanted: The Best of the Platters, except that the Rhino disc actually has everything here plus three additional tracks. None of those three extra songs are among the group's more familiar numbers, though, so in all honesty All-Time Greatest Hits will be just as sufficient for most fans. It has all 15 of their first Top Forty hits, an astonishing run that went from 1955's "Only You (And You Alone)" through 1960's "Harbor Lights," ...
| | Very Best Of The Drifters CD (1993)
Unpredictable CD music
$8.15 THE VERY BEST OF THE DRIFTERS features 16 tracks recorded between 1959 and 1964. Includes historic black and white photographs and liner notes by Steve Propes.
THE VERY BEST is a definitive anthology of the Drifters' most fertile and commercially successful period (1959-64), after their initial early '50s rock hits with lead vocalist Clyde McPhatter. During this period, the group was essentially the mouthpiece for the boundless imagination of the greatest of the Brill Building songwriters.
As a result, what you'll find here are such classics as " Up on the Roof", Gerry Goffin and Carole King's gorgeously romantic ode to working class escape and freedom, along with a virtual embarrassment of riches. These include timeless, often-covered songs by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weill ("On Broadway" "Saturday Night at ...
| | Gene Norman Presents The Original Gerry Mulligan Tentet & Quartet CD (1996)
Unpredictable music CDs
$9.79 Recorded in the early 1950's. Includes liner notes by Gene Norman.
The Original Gerry Mulligan Tentet & Quartet is a reissue on Gene Norman's GNP/Crescendo label. Norman originally produced the sessions in 1953, but the music contained on this CD sounds timeless. A natural extension of Tadd Dameron's bop arranging for big band/big band arranging for small group concept, this album features one of Dameron's compositions ("Lady Bird"), along with a handful of standards: a Miles Davis original and eight Mulligan compositions that truly represent the West Coast style in both sound and spirit. A young but exciting Chet Baker is heard throughout on trumpet; other West Coast notables include Bud Shank, Pete Candoli, and Chico Hamilton, and the entire ensemble performs admirably. For those interested in the '50s West Coast scene, or new fans looking for quintessential Gerry Mulligan, look no ...

| | Corinne Bailey Rae CDs (2006)
Unpredictable album
$17.45 Despite the fact that English vocalist Corinne Bailey Rae has the name of a country artist, and got her start playing in a grunge-inspired hard rock band, her self-titled debut is heavily steeped in 1970s-style soul and singer-songwriter intimacy. Rae's girlish, sultry voice might remind some listeners of Macy Gray, while the subtle shadings and jazzy textures of her tunes may bring to mind Nora Jones and Alicia Keys.
Yet Rae, who wrote or co-wrote each of the album's 11 tracks and provides much of the album's instrumentation as well, brings a distinctive stamp to the neo-soul formula. Her songwriting is strikingly personal and well-crafted, and her singing, which can be as cool as a Lester Young saxophone solo (the lilting "Like a Star") or as soulful and swinging as Sly Stone (the breakthrough single "Put Your Records On"), sets her apart from the pack. CORINNE BAILEY RAE is a solid and very promising debut.
When songstress Corinne Bailey Rae released her sashaying single "Put Your Records On" in her native U.K. it was a feel-good adult alternative phenomenon -- a kind of Norah Jones, Joss Stone, David Gray, or Macy Gray phenomenon. One listen to her breakout soft soul anthem and it's easy to hear why, since Rae is a mix of all the above but not a contrived one concocted by some major label's scientist. Her self-titled debut sounds a wee rushed and sometimes meanders its way into background music territory, but this comfortable effort is pleasingly homegrown, warm, and poignant in parts, especially when Rae doesn't weaken her strong lyrics with space-filling "doo de do do do"s and "mmmmmmm"s. So if she doesn't make an Alicia Keys-size splash with her debut, she's still a breath of fresh air, and hardly a one-hit wonder. It's risky to open an album with a lazy ballad, but the great "Like a Star" paints Rae as Billie Holiday's pop-influenced granddaughter. Mellowing Style Council or Brand New Heavies fans should dig "Trouble Sleeping," while "Butterfly" beautifully captures the full range of emotions that come with leaving the nest. The well-written and direct "Butterfly" suggests Rae could release a more accomplished full-length someday, but attention to "feel" often seems like the driving force in this album's creation. Adjust your expectations accordingly and Rae's languid debut is very rewarding. [EMI's 2007 Special Edition included a ten-song bonus CD.] ~ David Jeffries
2007 issued limited edition 2CD special edition of the acclaimed debut album by the British singer who crossed the pond to capture the hearts of Americans as well. The original album tracks come coupled with a second CD that includes a selection of previously released single b-sides and remixes. This version includes the songs "No Love Child" and "I Won't Let You Lie To Yourself" which are not included on a U.S. equivalent release.
