Personnel: Greg Pasenko (vocals, guitar); Diane Delin (violin); Beth Anderson (cello); Jim Massoth (saxophone); Jack Mouse (drums). Liner Note Author: Greg Pasenko. Recording information: Steve Yates Studio, Morton Grove, IL (12/2005). Photographer: Robert Pasenko. The head of the Blujazz label, Greg Pasenko is a talented guitarist and an expressive singer. His vocals are full of emotion and it is easy to understand the words he sings. On Something Old New Borrowed Blue, he takes half of the dozen selections as solo pieces, usually singing and backing himself on guitar. "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" is a duet with saxophonist Jim Massoth, two songs are trio pieces, one is a quartet with violinist Diane Delin, and two numbers have Pasenko joined by a string quartet. Most of the selections are jazz standards and Pasenko displays enthusiasm, swing, and subtle creativity. His fans will enjoy this well-rounded CD. ~ Scott YanowJazzTimes (pp.82-83) - "[With] personalized scat and clever maneuvers around the melodies, filling his own gaps with unexpected guitar licks....The album is heartfelt and enjoyable."
