| wasted wasteland I couldn't watch more than forty minutes of this movie. There is nothing redeeming about Gitai's vision of Tel Aviv and his characters; they, and the movie, go absolutely nowhere. They do not develop, they do not resemble real people. They do not even search inside themselves or their city for a better life. Does Gita hate himself and Israel so much? There is much great art that teaches us something of the human soul through an examination of our dark sides (anything by Bergman, Sarabande for his final comment, Per Fry's The Inheritance to choose something more recent), but this gives us no insight, no lesson. It is simply boring and pointless. By Richard (Victoria Canada) |
