Victim Of Love album for sale Product Description
Victim Of Love album for sale by Elton John was released Aug 30, 1994 on the Special Product label. After flirting with Philly soul and dance music on THE THOM BELL SESSIONS, Elton John dove headlong into the disco craze with 1979's VICTIM OF LOVE. At the time, John was going through a separation from lyricist Bernie Taupin, resulting in a collaboration with songwriter Pete Bellotte, who co-wrote everything on VICTIM with the exception of an ultra-slick, eight-minute cover of "Johnny B. Victim Of Love CD music contains a single disc with 7 songs. ...See Full Description

Not Bad I have this album in LP or vinyl, but have been searching for a cd format. I heard this years ago, still listen to it when the spirit hits me and recommend it to anyone who likes rock & roll. By bchinchilla (Houston, Tx, USA)
Elton and Pete's under-rated gem delivers the funk! Elton and Pete Belotte's (Donna Summer) homage to disco is, indeed, and under-rated gem. Elton had previously recorded some Philly-Soul tracks with Thom Bell in 1977 (that wasn't released in the US until 1979) and was receptive when dance music producer Pete Belotte asked him to sing lead on this Summer/Kraftwerk-esque songs. The result is a wonderful Germanique funk grove from start to finish. The "Victim of Love" single was also a minor hit here in the U.S.A., and I never tire of "Warm Love In A Cold World", "Born Bad" and the title track. If you like to move your feet get this now! The import version, FYI, is remasterd and included liner notes (but no bonus tracks). By britts5 (Charlotte)
Awful This would have to be the lowest point of Elton's career - He could only improve from this effort By Douglas (Melbourne, Australia)
A nadir of Elton's career, but still worthwhile. Although it's easy for anyone or even some of Elton's most devoted fans to dismiss "Victim Of Love" as a lacklusture and wasted effort, it's still not that bad. Although this album shows hardly any comparison to his other work, disco was "king" throughout the mid to late 70's, without a doubt, and Elton created this disco album fairly well. The opening track, which is an 8 minute version of "Johnny B. Goode", is the most satisfying standout track on the whole album. Most everything else on "Victim Of Love" is still quite danceable, even if the material is slight. However, this album could have been so much better, and one could easily be fooled that Elton actually played on the electric keyboards. He only let the producer take complete control and only provided the vocals, but some of the keyboard playing was absolutely stunning. Elton's voice was a knock-out and he also did some of his best singing ever. In retrospect, this album was a missed opportunity for Elton and it's been best known for only the completists and dedicated fans. It's quite possible that many fans never even knew about this album or that it was released. I still enjoy it, though! By Ron Haynes, Jr. (Clarkesville, Ga.) This review is for a different format.
| A Good Album I own this album in a vinyl format and if anyone likes rock or disco I would suggest it for any party. In my opinion it still sounds good for any party or while cleaning the pool or trimming the hedges. I am glad that it is now in a cd format.
