Dead forever., the legendary 1972 debut by Buffalo was the first to be released outside the UK on the prestigious Vertigo label. It remains one of the first . truly sinister albums from an Aussie band of the day. Highlights of this collection of heavy psychedelic blues included covers of Free's 'I'm a Mover' and the Blues Images' 'Pay My Dues' plus the band-penned tracks 'Leader', 'Suzie Sunshine', 'Bean Stew' and the melancholy, atmospheric ballad 'Forest Rain'. The album's centrepiece is the awe-inspiring title track; 'Dead Forever' - its dense, heavy riffing, multi-tracked solos, throbbing basslines, rasping vocals and a weird echoed sound to the drums created the 'definitive' Buffalo sound that would be fully unleashed on their ubsequent classics Volcanic Rock and Only Want You For Your Body. The line-up for this album was: Dave Tice (vocals - later vocalist for UK R&B band The Count Bishops), Alan Milano (vocals), Paul Babli (drums), Peter Wells (bass - later guitarist for Rose Tattoo) and John Baxter (guitar). The 3rd. release in Aztec Music's reissue of all 5 Buffalo titles, dead forever. features 5 bonus tracks (2 by pre Buffalo band Head), new digital remaster, 24 page booklet with rare photos and liner notes by Ian McFarlane - packaged in a 6 panel digi-pak. | | Armageddon CD (1975) Remastered; Digipak
Dead Forever CD music
$16.29 Cynics who perceive many super-groups as nothing more than bloated extrapolations of, at times, perfectly mundane musical components, can back up their assumptions with Armageddon's eponymous debut from 1975. The first and final spawn of the would-be-super-group featuring former Yardbird vocalist Keith Relf, erstwhile Captain Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell, ex-Steamhammer guitarist Martin Pugh, and Relf's Renaissance partner, bassist Louis Cennamo, the album contains a meager five tracks -- four of which extend beyond the eight-minute barrier due to bouts of arguably unnecessary, self-indulgent waffling. On the other hand, this was the '70s, people, and of course this sort of excess was par for the course, back then. What's more, these same dubious qualities actually contributed to the album's eventual adoption as a precursor to the stoner rock movement by dope fiends everywhere, most of whom rarely heard a lengthy jam session they couldn't nod ...

Dead Forever music CDs
$27.59 One of the great lost classic Australian LP's from the 1970's is Buffalo's 2nd. LP: Volcanic Rock - one of the band's greatest records and essentially the first stoner rock album ever issued in Australia. The importance of Volcanic Rock can never be underestimated. This is the album that established the band's reputation for dispensing uncompromising heavy psych rock of monumental proportions; this is the album that continues to enthral aficionados of the genre the world over. It was this LP that established the classic line-up of: vocalist Dave Tice (who later joined UK R&B band The Count Bishops), guitarist John Baxter, bass player Pete Wells (who later switched to slide guitar in another legendary Aussie band: Rose Tattoo), and drummer Jimmy ...

| | Cactus Restrictions CD (1971)
Dead Forever CD music
$9.69 With a mixture of members from Vanilla Fudge, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, and the Amboy Dukes, it's hard to believe that Cactus didn't really succeed in their time. Often derided for being second-rate boogie rock, the band simply did what it did, and part of the allure of the style is its sloppy, second-rate nature. This 1971 release may not see the band at their peak, but it surely showcases the occasionally thundering rhythm section of Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice. Why a song like "Token Chokin'" was never a hit and why it has yet to be embraced by the classic rock-loving public is a complete mystery. The song is some of the most heels-up, thundering, so-brainless-it's-genius rock that has ever been to tape. It's complete with big guitars, big sing-alongs, and a bass-and-drum combo that could knock out windows. Somebody needs to revive this track. Songs like "Evil" and "Sweet Little Sixteen" are all scorching guitars and long-haired riffing. It's a testament to the blues-inspired power they could surely muster up onstage. Other tracks seem to fall apart like the opener, "Restrictions," and "Guiltless Glider," which starts off thick and heavy á ...
| | Wayne Mcghie & The Sounds Of Joy CD (2004)
Dead Forever music CDs
$11.65 Wayne McGhie and the Sounds of Joy released this album in 1970, a blend of reggae, funk, and soul.
Wayne McGhie, a cohort of reggae legend Jackie Mittoo, was a key figure in Toronto, Canada's reggae/funk scene of the '70s, which consisted of Jamaican and Caribbean expat musicians who migrated to the city during the decade. In 2007, the Light in the Attic label reissued McGhie's supremely rare, ultra sought-after album, WAYNE MCGHIE & THE SOUNDS OF JOY. Equal parts sizzling funk, ragged reggae grooves, absolutely filthy drum breaks, and McGhie's impassioned soul vocals, the album is more than just a collector's obscurity; it's a diverse stew of black musical forms played with grit and ...

| | Robyn Is Here CD (1997)
Dead Forever CD music
$9.75 Not satisfied with the sugary, obvious, and squeaky-clean music that tends to send Swedish groups up the charts every few years, Stockholm native Robyn decided instead to follow a more soulful musical path, giving her debut LP, ROBYN IS HERE a more urban, R&B-influenced sound. Vocally, she has learned her lessons well, moving deftly from breathy staccato stylings to smooth, close harmonies far more reminiscent ...
