| | Lady Gaga Fame Monster CDs (2009) Deluxe Edition
Reloaded CD music
$16.44 Initially planned solely as a standard double-disc reissue in the wake of the blockbuster success of The Fame, Lady Gaga decided to release the new material as a separate EP called The Fame Monster in addition to the standard two-CD set, where it's tacked onto a now standardized version of her debut. It's a nice move for fans, plus it helps emphasize the new material, which does act as a bridge from the debut to a forthcoming full-length. Everything on The Fame Monster bears a galvanized Eurotrash finish, as evident on the heavy steel synths of "Bad Romance" and the updated ABBA revision "Alejandro," as it is on the rock & roll ballad "Speechless" -- its big guitars lifted from Noel Gallagher -- and the wonderful, perverse march "Teeth." Even the stuttering splices on "Telephone," a duet with Beyoncé, leans to the other side of the Atlantic, which just emphasizes the otherness that's become Gaga's calling card. And even as she's becoming omnipresent, with her songs mingling with those who co-opt her on the radio, she still is slightly ...

| | Mariah Carey Merry Christmas CD (1994)
Reloaded songs
$8.75 At this stage of her career Mariah Carey does not need to prove herself, but her voice is so powerful that with each new recording she, once again, reminds you: "Listen to what I can do." Vocal gymnastics and Christmas songs are not often thought of as a compatible combination, but on MERRY CHRISTMAS Mariah jumps, climbs, crawls, twirls and dashes her way through both traditional fare and original Christmas songs.
She shifts ...

| | Rammstein Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da CDs (2009) Bonus Tracks; Deluxe Edition; Digipak
Reloaded CD music
$17.59 Anyone familiar with the industrial-metal band's dark sense of irony should take one look at the title of Rammstein's 2009 album LIEBE IST FUR ALLE DA ("Love Is There For Everyone") and conclude that this one is a mean monster. Combining the tightness and punch of their 1998 album SEHNSUCHT with the musicianship and elaborate textures of their later work, LIEBE IST is a grand achievement, skillfully dividing its time between razor sharp metal rockers like "B********" or the opening theme song "Rammlied" and nostalgic, cabaret pieces that conjure the spirits of Weil and Brecht at a goth club. Best of the latter is the naked and haunting closer "Roter Sand" but little touches of a sinister yesteryear are everywhere, like the fake vaudeville music in "Haifisch" or the soundtrack strings of "Wiener Blut" which are eventually overcome by a guitar crunching juggernaut. This strange mix of styles is more effective here than it has been for about a decade, and there's no ...
| | Left on Dorris Strand CD (2005)
Reloaded music CDs
$15.19 A year in the making, Strand is the third release from veteran Pittsburgh quintet Left on Dorris. With the help of engineer/producer Matt Harrington, the band has created a dynamic and eclectic modern rock record that maintains the melodic hooks that its fans have come to expect. "This band thrives on writing great songs and we hope that some of the tunes are something that people can latch on to. We live to play rock and roll," says Martin McKay, the band's ambitious singer/songwriter/guitarist. McKay, along with guitarist Bob Boyd, drummer Dan Boyd, and bassist Sean Weida, form the core of LOD, and have been playing together since 1996. The newest member of the band, vocalist Stacy Pomroy, joined partway through the Strand sessions and has added the strong vocal harmonies and counter-melodies that reinforce the emotional intensity of the record. It is difficult ...

$11.39 Kelmscott Music, BMI 840 County Route 2Accord, NY 12404Phone (845) 687-0590 Kurt Henry Website: kurthenry.comE-mail: cherylkurt@aol.comThe Kurt Henry BandThe Repertoire:Kurt’s songs have a welcome familiarity, even to widely divergent musical palates. These are popular songs meant for listening, dancing and remembering. The beat has been heard before and the melodies sound like they could have come from a faintly remembered nostalgic dream. The easy grooves combine with that uncanny sense of “having heard it before,” seducing hands to drum and bodies to sway until the dancers within seek the customary comfort of movement across a freshly viewed landscape: new pop, alternative, reggae and latin, electric bluegrass, British folk-rock, R&B, contemporary--all accessible. The Goal: Popular, new, original songs with seductive rhythms that appeal to the mind, the heart and the body. The craft of an exacting contemporary popular band is married to the ideals of the popular poet--easy to understand, but opening more deeply with successive listenings. The songs are not political; the songs are not apolitical. Love triumphs in its multifaceted ...

Reloaded CD music
$10.15 CITY PRISON DOORS is the third track to be taken from the band's recent debut album 'Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre' and the first to receive a commercial release in Australia. How queer? The band are told they combine two influences they barely knew they had to breathe new life into a movement that happened over two decades ago. '...think Elvis Costello fronting The Jam. City Prison Doors comes as close to joyously re-creating late 1970's new wave as you're likely to find.' - InPress ...
