(1 Customer Review)
Best known for her omnipresent radio hits "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" and "I Don't Want To Wait" (the theme to the popular teen TV drama DAWSON'S CREEK), New England-based singer-songwriter Paula Cole released three albums in the last half of the 1990s, and their finest moments are neatly anthologized on this 16-track compilation. A link between the autobiographical starkness of Aimee Mann and Tori Amos and the more overtly pop-oriented sounds of Jewel or Sheryl Crow, Cole's mature and thoughtful pop was always confident and never strayed into adult-contemporary blandness.

Postcards From East Oceanside: Greatest Hits album
$6.25 The CD contains the four songs from the bonus EP--NICK LOWE & DAVE EDMUNDS SING THE EVERLY BROTHERS--included with the original LP release.
Kindred spirits Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe had worked together extensively in different capacities in the 1970s, but their on-again/off-again band Rockpile only recorded one album, 1980's superlative SECONDS OF PLEASURE. It stands as one of the finest examples of the pub-rock/power-pop crossroads that defined the band's aesthetic. Edmunds and Lowe's American influences are worn on the sleeve (literally), as they spark new life into tunes by Chuck Berry ("Oh What a Thrill") and soul man Joe Tex ("If Sugar ...

Postcards From East Oceanside: Greatest Hits CD music
$16.45 Lenny Marcus hails from Washington D.C. and worked for many years in New Orleans and south Louisiana. While there, Lenny had the opportunity to study with world-renowned jazz educator Alvin Batiste at Southern University, as well as the legendary jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis, among others. Perhaps the greatest influences came, however, from the strong left-handed, blues-oriented pianist Ray Bryant, to whom Lenny grew up listening, as well as the more modern, modal approach of McCoy Tyner. His bluesy, vocal phrasings remind the listener of a young Mose Allison, with a little Michael Franks mixed in. Lenny also brings his own unique style, ...
