On its second full-length outing for the Astralwerks label, the New York City-based group Radio 4 offers up a tight, confident, and aesthetically varied album that easily eclipses its predecessor. While the band's post-punk influences are still apparent--most notably Gang of Four, Public Image Ltd., and the Clash--the quintet, which boasts new guitarist Dave Milone, works them more subtly into its songs, as immediately clear on the strong opening title track, which features propulsive rhythms, a deep bass pulse, and blistering guitar lines. Stretching out stylistically, Radio 4 evokes early U2-like urgency on "Grass Is Greener," and falls into a reggae groove on the dub-tinged "Ascension Street." The entire record is bolstered by the bold, up-front production of Jagz Kooner, resulting in what may be the NYC ensemble's finest moment.
Japanese pressing includes one bonus track, 'Caroline'. New York's Radio 4 returns with their strongest album yet, Enemies Like This. The album was produced by Jagz Kooner (recorded in New York and mixed in London by Kooner himself) and the results are a new landmark for Radio 4! Enemies Like This refines the band's signature sound while taking it to the next level, which in this case means a return to the rawer, more emotonally-charged sound of their earlier material. The new album delivers politically charged, intelligent lyrics over funk riff guitars and deep throbbing dub grooves. Key tracks include Enemies Like This , This is Not a Test , Too Much to Ask For and Packing Things Up . EMI. 2006.Entertainment Weekly (p.77) - "[T]here is a definite funky joyousness to be found in this latest collection from the post-punk-loving Radio 4." Alternative Press (p.204) - "There's a lot of energy on Radio 4's fourth album, and it's the kind of energy that comes from experiencing punk rock, disco, and the chaos and vigor of big-city life..." $5.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should be danced to with a smile on your face. Each track offers at least one musical ...

It's always a sign that a group is hot if they release a holiday album mere months after their debut. That's the case with *NSYNC. Their debut was released in America in late March, and in early December, Home for Christmas hit the shelves. Much of the album is devoted to newer material, with only a handful of songs qualifying as standards: "The Christmas Song," "The First Noel," and "O Holy Night." All of it is given ...

Enemies Like This music CDs
$13.55 A three-year gap separates FOREVER from the Spice Girls' previous studio effort, and while those glistening hooks are still present, a more mature approach is evident. "Holler", the first single, shows the girls going a funkier route, yet retaining the infectiousness that brought their previous singles such success. "Tell Me Why" is an eminently danceable number, and "Let Love Lead The Way" features tag-team lead vocals and glossy harmonies ripe for worldwide airplay.
"Right Back at Ya" finds the girls presenting a united front to weather the media storm that came with the departure of founding member Geri Halliwell. "Goodbye" and "Oxygen" are both gorgeous ballads, the latter getting the magical production touch of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. FOREVER ...

Enemies Like This CD music
$15.19 The smart pop of Emm Gryner's sixth full-length album, Asianblue, garnered her a 2002 Juno Award nomination for Best Pop Album. Indeed, it's a highly intelligent and melodic album, spotlighting Gryner's impeccable taste in keyboard melody lines. Album opener "Symphonic" is nothing short of magnificent with its memorable piano intro and poetic terms of endearment. All that keeps Asianblue from being an excellent album is a general lack of similarly memorable refrains among its 11 tracks. Nevertheless, Gryner's sparkling voice has sufficient combination toughness and sweetness to retain credibility ...
| | Moody Blues Say It With Love CD (2003) Remastered
Enemies Like This music CDs
$12.59 Say It With Love presents 16 previously issued love songs from the Moody Blues in remastered format. It predictably begins with the group's two biggest hits, "Knights in White Satin" and "Your Wildest Dreams." But the set goes downhill from there, unless you're a fan of the group's more saccharine 1980s and '90s material. While vintage gems like "New Horizons" and "For My Lady" are nice inclusions, the majority of Say It With Love ...
| | Early Jin Singles: Southland Rock 'N Roll CD (2003) (Import) United Kingdom
Enemies Like This songs
$16.95 Run by Floyd Soileau, the small independent Jin label released a lot of the earliest Louisiana swamp pop in the late '50s and early '60s, occasionally releasing product in a similar vein by Texas musicians. This anthology brings together 30 tracks from 1958-1961, mostly from Jin singles (though a couple appeared on Soileau's Swallow label, and Red Smiley & the Veltones' "Once Again" was previously unreleased). Overall, it's a good overview of the first flourish of swamp pop, the regional music that mixed rock & roll, Fats Domino-style New Orleans R&B, blues, pop, doo wop, and Cajun sounds in varying proportions, usually in a good-time or sentimental tone. While there aren't many tracks here that are exceptionally memorable or classic, it's a pleasing sound that rang with more sincerity than much rock of the period. Occasionally, too, it was rawer and bluesier than the stereotypical swamp pop ...
