Eccentric Soul: The Big Mack Label
$17.09 This entry in the Eccentric Soul series of obscure U.S. regional soul label re-releases uncovers Florida's Deep City label, which provided a springboard for the musical careers of R&B greats like Betty Wright, whose early-1970s "Clean Up Woman" was one of the seminal records of the disco years, and sweet soul singer-songwriter Paul Kelly, whose early-'70s stomper "Stealing in the Name of the Lord" fueled many a Northern Soul dance floor. Wright's slow burning "Paralyzed" and Kelly's "The Upset" are two of the highlights of this fascinating compilation, which also includes such forgotten talents as Helene Smith, whose charming, pop-flavored "I Am Controlled By Your Love" is a minor mid-'60s classic.
It's ok to call them unstoppable. The Chicago-based reissue label Numero Group, has done ...

Eccentric Soul: The Big Mack Label
$15.15 The Numero Group's 11th release is also its fifth in the Eccentric Soul series that focuses on small-town producers and labels whose tracks have either never seen the light of day or were so obscure they vanished without a trace or even a whimper of interest. In other words, these folks are crazy and thank God they are. This Eccentric Soul platter is truly out there: soul from Phoenix, AZ! The music here was produced and recorded by music entrepreneur/producer, label owner, manager, record store owner, DJ, you name it, Michael Lenaburg. The 17 tracks on this set were recorded between 1962 and 1980, the vast majority between 1967 and 1971. All of this is raw, gritty, and real. One standout is Ronnie Whitehead's killer James Brown rip "Out of Breath" -- it's funky as hell, and so utterly ferocious in its vocal attack that it bleeds soul. (He even name-checks Brown in the ...

$17.19 Ken Townshend:As a healing artist, my passion is in creating, a feeling of wholeness within as many people as I can. My prayer is that through my music, people will be able to connect to their divine source which holds creativity and dreams. It is the feeling to the perfect state of being beauty within, that leads to an inner connection and sense of love, lightness, stillness, gentleness and peace. A link to the beauty of the moment and the gentle breath of being alive. A state of slowing down and simplicity. When I create, I love being in the moment. This is the place of pure divine creativity, of letting my thoughts go and experiencing the infinite flow of gentleness, divine love and compassion. I let my ...
