Pure Shadowfax by Shadowfax was released May 23, 2006 on the Windham Hill label. Named after the wizard Gandalf's horse in THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, Shadowfax started out in the late 1970s as a progressive jazz ensemble influenced by classical chamber music (see the opening number, "Another Country"). This 14-song Windham Hill compilation also reveals the ensemble's smooth-jazz and New Age leanings with tracks such as "Kindred Spirits" and "Move the Clouds," serving as an excellent sampler of Shadowfax's dreamy, spirit-lifting music.
