| Call Of The Weasel Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Oops... Sorry, my previous review was for the album "Chris Gentlemens Hairdresser And Railway Book Shop [2003]" - nevermind, they're both great! Submitted by lasthidingplace (North Wales, UK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nuff Cuts Baby! Lightyear were one of the best british skapunk acts out there, and it's a shame they decided to call it a day. However, this album AND their previous work, "Call Of The Weasel Clan", are both shouting skanking barrels of punk waiting to punch you in the stomache for not dancing immediately. Who else could confidendly sing a lyric with less meaning than Lightyear: "I am Sam from the lord of the rings, donnashish, pepparami or chicken wings" Submitted by lasthidingplace (North Wales, UK) Was This Review Helpful? | | Belphegor Walpurgis Rites: Hexenwahn CD (2009)
Call Of The Weasel
$12.85 Long-running Austrian death/black metal band Belphegor are masters of track and album titles. Previous discs have sported names like BONDAGE GOAT ZOMBIE, PESTAPOKALYPSE VI, and LUCIFER INCESTUS, with songs like "Belphegor -- Hell's Ambassador," "Sexdictator Lucifer," and "Demonic Staccato Erection." | | Metallica Death Magnetic CD (2008)
Call Of The Weasel
$15.65 In the five years between the two releases, Metallica seem to have gotten back in touch with the raw power of their classic period, with a little help from legendary producer Rick Rubin. One listen to the 10-minute epic "Suicide & Redemption" with its mix of raw rock ferocity and complex musical development should tell you the old Metallica's back in business. Long tracks with complex structures and intricate, speedy riffs abound. Most appealing for longtime fans may be the return to the frenzied guitar solos of yore. Rubin seems to have assisted the band on a path that successfully combines power, melodicism, and pure, unadulterated metal mania, over ...

| | Three Days Grace Life Starts Now CD (2009)
Call Of The Weasel
$12.19 The third studio album from Canadian arena rockers Three Days Grace treads familiar ground, presenting 12 slabs of the kind of reliable, accessible, and serviceable hard rock that will always have an audience. 2006's ONE-X dealt heavily with vocalist Adam Gontier's personal demons, a theme that continues on LIFE STARTS NOW, albeit with a hint of sunlight. With a sound that lands somewhere in between Breaking Benjamin, Collective Soul, and Godsmack--Gontier sounds like a less volatile Trent Reznor--LIFE STARTS NOW treats the well-worn metal themes of anger, isolation, heartache, and redemption with the kind of begrudging respect they deserve, pumping out a competent flurry of fist-bump anthems ("Break," "Bully") and world-weary, midtempo rockers ("World So Cold," "Last to Know" that are so painfully earnest ...

| | Black Sabbath Never Say Die! CD (1978)
Call Of The Weasel
$6.09 By the end of the '70s, though Black Sabbath remained a top concert draw, its albums had become increasingly erratic and sub-par when compared to its earlier master works. Singer Ozzy Osbourne's growing disillusionment with the band had reached a boiling point, especially after it took so long to complete 1978's NEVER SAY DIE, the original line-up's final album. Though the album's title might suggest that the band had reconciled its differences (Osbourne had already left the band once previously, only to return shortly afterwards), the turmoil spilled over onto the recording.
The album-opening title track remains the record's best-known track, as it was featured on Ozzy's popular 1982 solo live album of Sabbath material, SPEAK OF THE DEVIL. Other hard rockers on the first half of the album, such as "Junior's Eyes" and "A Hard Road" prove to be standouts. The final deciding factor for Ozzy's permanent split from the band occurred on the ensuing tour, when a hungry young band by the name ...

Call Of The Weasel
$16.19 Arashk's second album, Sovereign, has now played around with oriental mood in instrumental progressive metal.Ferdowsi's Shahnameh (The Epic of Kings) has been the main motive behind the musical lines of this album. This legend alike others is an excuse... An excuse to outline esoteric ideas in the form of Story. As Jean Cocteau put it, “History consists of truths which in the end turn into lies, while myth consists of lies which finally turn into truths.”"Thus, the ...
