| | Emerson, Lake, And Palmer Then And Now CD - Import Emerson, Lake, And Palmer Discography of CDs
This two-disc set is a live album featuring performances from two different ELP eras: then and now. The then material is from Cal Jam '74, and the now is from shows from the late 1990s. This is a good chronicle for fans of the band. It features plenty of the band's best loved and most classic pieces in great live performances. The disc showcases the talent of all three musicians, but especially Emerson who has several strong solos. ~ Gary Hill
Reissue of this two CD live album, originally released in 1998. Features live performances from Cal Jam '74 ('Then') and various shows in the '90s ('Now'). Castle. 2006. Then And Now Review

Then And Now music CDs
$9.25 Originally released as two albums on the Charter label as LENA GOES LATIN &
After a lengthy and successful run on RCA from 1955-1962, Lena Horne cut a few albums for the small Charter label. Picking up on the period craze for all things Latin -- mambo, bossa nova, or otherwise -- Horne recorded this 1963 collection of swinging, Latinized standards for the company. With husband and bandleader Lennie Hayton directing a crack group through some fine Shorty Rogers arrangements, Horne shows off her powerful and supple voice on both obscure fare ("Cuckoo in the Clock") and perennial classics from Tin Pan Alley ("My Blue Heaven"). And while some might balk at the Mancini-like lounge touches informing highlights like the fiercely delivered "From This Moment On" and a bravura reading of "Night and Day," one must ask what would be better to temper the driving rhythms, frenetic horn charts, and Horne's theatrical phrasing. Taking the edge off further, there's the lilting bossa nova of Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Meditation." A fine disc for any Lena Horne fan to pick up. [The 1991 DRG reissue couples Lena Goes Latin with another Horne album, Sings Your Requests.] ~ Stephen Cook
In 1963, Lena Horne left a long association with RCA Victor Records and signed to the smaller Charter label, for which she recorded two albums, Goes Latin and Sings Your Requests. Those two albums are combined on this two-fer compilation. The first ten tracks, which comprised the original Goes Latin LP, were arranged by Shorty Rogers and conducted by Horne's husband, Lennie Hayton. In keeping with the title, the arrangements feature Latin percussion, with punchy big-band horn charts on top. Horne was no stranger to such material, at least in the diluted form heard here, having performed Latin-style arrangements in the movies and on Broadway, and in fact her lively, take-charge interpretations are well-suited to Rogers' arrangements, whether applied to a Cole Porter show tune or a more contemporary song such as the ...
| | Rory Gallagher BBC Sessions CDs (1999)
Then And Now songs
$7.59 The resurrected Buddha acquired the rights to much of Rory Gallagher's prime material in 1999. They began their reissue program with his first two albums, then they moved to what most hardcore fans would consider the crown jewel of the series, a double-disc collection of Gallagher's BBC sessions. Like most lead guitarists (at least those of his generation), he would often expand his music when playing live, turning in vibrant, exciting versions of his material, peppered with great guitar solos. Although it lacks the kinetic spark generated whenever a musician performs in front of a live audience, BBC Sessions is one of the finest live sets in his catalog, thanks to its crystalline fidelity, strong performances, and classy presentation. Certainly, this collection isn't for anyone that isn't already devoted to Gallagher, ...
| | Eyes Adrift CD (2002) (Import) Import
Then And Now album
$43.09 This 2002 album from indie rockers Eyes Adrift features 12 tracks, including "Sleight Of Hand" and "Untried."
Considering the pedigree of the supergrouping that a trio consisting of a Meat Puppet, someone who was Sublimed, and Krist himself, Eyes Adrift came and went with little fanfare in 2002. One listen to the group's eponymous debut shows that to be the whole point. Curt Kirkwood blew up the Meat Puppets' lineup once before, for 2000's Golden Lies, and Eyes Adrift is for all intents and purposes a new, theoretically improved version of the seminal group, augmented with members of two other bands whose protagonists' deaths stopped them in their prime. This tripling could have been about unfinished business, or it could have been about starting anew in the face of adversity, but in reality, ...
