The songs appear in both their mono and stereo mixes (the latter is a particular enticement since the tracks from, say, BEATLES FOR SALE were previously available only in mono). The set also features the original stereo mixes of HELP! and RUBBER SOUL (which are different from the digital remixes that appear on the standard issue CDs of those albums). Naturally, the music is fantastic, and with the remarkable new sound, extensive notes, and a photo-packed booklet, this is a sure bet for Beatles fanatics. The set is available in both a long box and a standard CD-sized box.
The second volume of Capitol's box set reissues of the Beatles' American album releases is tailor-made for collectors. The Beatles albums currently available on CD are based on the original British issues, so THE CAPITOL ALBUMS marks the CD debut of THE EARLY BEATLES, BEATLES IV, HELP!, and RUBBER SOUL, all of which were released in the U.S. in 1964.
The Beatles: John Lennon, George Harrison (vocals, guitar); Paul McCartney (vocals, bass guitar); Ringo Starr (vocals, drums).
Rolling Stone (p.67) - 5 stars out of 5 -- "BEATLES VI is effectively their salute to American rock & roll, and the reworked RUBBER SOUL became their response to America's new folk-rock movement." Capitol Albums Vol. 2 Music | | Capitol Albums Vol. 2 CD DISC 1: |

| Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Off to a Bad Start, but Great Beatles Music Ordered during pre-ship preriod and got the first pressing version, which has non-authentic 'fold-over' mono tracks on "Beatles VI" and "Rubber Soul". Returned set to CD Universe and they sent the 2nd pressing, on which Capitol put the correct original mono tracks (easy way to tell - the wrong mono version of "I'm Looking Through You" on "Rubber Soul" has the extented intro like the stereo version, instead of the correct brief intro as on the British Parlophone release).
Once past that, these are the song mixes and LPs we US Beatles fans bought and listened to back in '65 and'66 - GREAT! Submitted by Bob (Rowley, MA, US) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Loved the Quality - to a point I love the concept of using the US masters and LP configurations. They were always more punchy than the "official" releases.
I hate the idea that they chose to use electronically reprocessed tracks where the stereo tracks were not available at the time of release (with the exception of Love Me Do/PS I Love You.) Nobody in modern times (or even audiofiles back in the olden days g) ever thought this "reprocessing" was a good idea.
It'll be interesting when they get to Yesterday & Today. Will Capitol use the unique stereo masters found on the original reel to reel versions or go with the fake stereo from the LP?

4 albums in the way they came out on capitol vinal. Remastered in stereo. If You like the beatles in the order you used to listen too, then this is the set to get. Like Volume one, the songs are redone in stereo and also in mono like they used to be. What a difference it is to listen to "bad boy" or "words of love" in stereo. Help never sounded so good. Rubber Soul is great as is beatle six. The Early Beatles disc has Anna remastered. Norwegion wood and Michelle are excelent. you won't be disappointed at all except for "Love me do". It is not all that well separated. The price is a little high, but it is still worth it.

Worth the price For Beatle collectors the price of an item really isn't an issue. We'll buy just about anything at just about any price. However, the Capitol Albums sets have been worth the price in my humble opinion. Sure, Capitol hacked up the original recordings to milk all they could out of the Beatles during their height of popularity. But these are the recordings I remember from when I was a kid. So for me they have been a welcomed pleasure; a return to my childhood if you will. I would prefer a little better artwork for the box and a sturdier box would be nice as well. But as for the music, it just doesn't get better than the Beatles. Submitted by osburn4 (Stillwater, OK) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
