Prisoner In Disguise album for sale by Linda Ronstadt was released on the Warner Bros. label. After the chart-topping success of HEART LIKE A WHEEL, Linda Ronstadt released PRISONER IN DISGUISE in 1975, an extremely successful follow-up effort which bolstered her standing as one of America's most popular singers. | Amazing record and amazing sound! Linda Ronstadt’s voice was made for albums like “Prisoner in Disguise. ” She has beautiful range, her emotionally charged voice coming out with great strength and conviction. I think she had found the right material at the right time and an excellent group of studio hands, including Andrew Gold, whose contributions as a session player (and arranger?) is heavily felt here. He delivered the same kind of magic on “Heart Like a Wheel” in 1974, as well as “Hasten Down the Wind” released in 1976. Ronstadt covers songs by Neil Young, James Taylor, Lowell George (Little Feet), Smokey Robinson, J.D. Souther & Dolly Parton, and the arrangements are just as diverse as the names of the songwriters might imply. But it all works wonderfully in the end. Linda Ronstadt was indeed the foremost of torch singers at the time, though I think Juice Newton soon would give her a close run for the money! The sound engineering is amazing. Hats off to Mobile Fidelity for this excellent reissue of the original master recording. Mofi did the same for Ronstadt’s 1973 release “Don’t Cry Now,” with the same awe-inspiring result. The CD is a bit pricey but it’s worth all the money considering the great sound. This remastered version is also a limited edition, so get it while you can! | I was asthonised by the sound First of all I like the music of Linda Ronstadt, this cd came out as an "Special CD", elusive disc, Gold Omr. All the songs and the sound of all the instruments are so clear and bright and Linda her voice that touch you deep inside, specially the song " Prisoner in disquise" It's like she is standing in front of you on stage!! Evenso on a small stereo it sounds very good. But playing on an big stereo you really hear the qualities of the CD. I enjoy every minute of it!!
