The 1967 spy spoof stars David Niven as James Bond, who recruits six 'James Bonds' (Peter Sellers, Woody Allen) to confuse his enemy. Bonuses: commentary, featurettes, photo gallery.

This stupendous spoof of James Bond films tells of the super agent's plans for retirement. When he relinquishes his authority to this bungling nephew, the results are disastrous.

This swinging spoof of Ian Fleming's spy hero features an aging James Bond (David Niven), reluctantly dragged out of retirement to chase down the evil crime clique called SMERSH. In order to confound the forces led by the villainous Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), the Secret Service enlists five other agents, also under the name "Bond," and all six converge on the titular casino. Meanwhile, Woody Allen, as the retiring secret agent's nephew, causes havoc at every turn. The gleefully chaotic product of five directors, numerous screenwriters, and the late 1960s in general, CASINO ROYALE revels in its psychedelic spy satire premise. The comedy features a legion of stars in roles both large and small: Niven, Welles, Allen, Peter Sellers, Ursula Andress, William Holden, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jacqueline Bisset, Deborah Kerr, and many more. (Apparently, Sellers and Welles despised each other, and Sellers would frequently not show up for his scenes.) Amid the wackiness, there are genuine moments of hilarity, making the film a surreal romp through Bond lore and the more eccentric aspects of 1960s pop culture.

Theatrical Release: April 28, 1967 Shot in Technicolor. The budget for CASINO ROYALE is estimated at around $12 million.

5 stars Bond..........James Bond
This is a very good spoof comedy of the action hero James Bond. Released in 1967, it is a little far out. The good news is that Ursala Andrews is in this film....AND a very young Jacqueline Bisset as "Miss Goodthighs." If you are a fan of "Austin Powers, international Man of Mystery," you will see numerous similarities taken from "Casino Royale." Burt Bachrach wrote the music, and its really terrific. Watch this movie for what it is, nostalgic humor, and enjoy it.

4 stars Taking the mickey out of Bond, James Bond
A rather wild spoof of the James Bond 007 persona and movie style, it came out in 1967, the same year as the fifth of the Connery Bond films, 'You Only Live Twice'. For fans of the Bond series, and if you enjoy a good spoof, especially with the talents of David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and Ursula Andress to spin out the tale, well worth seeing again.

4 stars Very English Humour.
What are these other reviewers complaining about? It's not meant to be a REAL Bond Film! It is meant to be stupid! It is meant to be strange and confusing! It is meant to make fun of James Bond movies! Fans of Goons-type humour will enjoy this film. Peter Seller's line about the shampoo is great! The auction scene is also one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. Yes, the film is very sixties and confusing, but it is better than the horrible rubbish that is coming out these days!

2 stars very, dated
I saw the movie when I was a child in TV and liked it then (25 years ago). Woody Allen ist the funniest thing in this movie, I guess you have to be a child to like this movie. I bought the American DVD because the UK DVD has mono sound. The sound sounded still very dated, the picture is fine. I wouln't buy it again.

After PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and ATONEMENT, Keira Knightley continues her reign as the queen of the period film with this 18th-century costume drama. The corset-clad actress stars as Georgiana Spenser, the Duchess of Devonshire. With her marriage to the duke (Ralph Fiennes), Georgiana achieves an impressive level of fame as Britons follow both her clothing style and her political advice. But even celebrity and wealth can't act as a salve in her marriage to the boring, boorish duke. When he begins to flaunt his affairs, Georgiana is tempted to return to a teenage crush, Charles Grey (Dominic Cooper of THE HISTORY BOYS), to the anger of her husband and her mother (Charlotte Rampling, SWIMMING POOL). Fiennes's portrayal of the duke ranks roughly with his Lord Voldemort on a scale of beastly behavior, but the acclaimed actor manages to give him a level of humanity that far surpasses what he deserves. THE DUCHESS focuses on the lack of power possessed by Georgiana and, in fact, all women of her time, and the duke is the primary agent of her suppression. As she has done with other period films from the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series to KING ARTHUR, Knightley brings spirit to the role, as well as a regal carriage that perfectly fits the detailed costumes by Michael O'Connor. Fans of history-based drama--Georgiana was real-life royalty who is found in the genealogy of Princess Diana--will find much to like in this film, which boasts impressive locations, lush costumes, and forbidden love. Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes star in this $13 million-grossing movie about the Duchess of Devonshire, who marries into one of Britain's most powerful families. Extras include featurettes and costume diary.

Beginning just hours after the original HELLRAISER ended, HELLBOUND finds young Kristy (Laurence) waking up in a mental institution because she insisted on describing her parents murderers as pain-loving demons from hell to the authorities. Unfortunately, she has been placed in the car of Dr. Channard, who has devoted his life to solving the Lament Configuration, the key to the doorway of hell, and now, with Kristy, he believes he has found another key. Resuscitating the skinless corpse of her stepmother, Julia, Dr. Channard succeeds in opening a doorway to hell, one that Julia, Channard, Kristy, and her mute friend Tiffany all travel through. Based on a story by Clive Barker, HELLBOUND is both a continuation of the original as well as a much different take on its story and universe. Here, the film fashions itself after an ALICE IN WONDERLAND type fairy tale as it focuses on Kristy and Tiffany's adventures in hell as well as on the lives of the Cenobites. Infamously gory, surreal, and often horrifying, HELLBOUND is a satisfying sequel to one of the most original horror films of the 1980s. In 1988, it emerged as the shocking follow-up to the film that redefined the face of horror. Two decades later, it remains one of the most brutally original sequels in horror film history. Relive the nightmare of pleasure and pain as the puzzle box unleashes the depraved hunger of the Cenobites, the unholy birth of the Leviathan Configuration and even the horrific origin of Pinhead (Doug Bradley), Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, and Kenneth Cranham co-star in this hit sequel from executive producer Clive Barker that experiences the flesh like no other.

Twenty years ago in the sleepy mining town of Valentine Bluffs, a fatal mining disaster occurred on Valentine's Day while key members of the crew were decorating for a party. The sole survivor of the accident killed the absentee crew members and warned the town never to have another Valentine's Day celebration. When a group of teenagers decides that the the town has gone without a party long enough and begin planning one, a murderous maniac in mining gear begins dispatching townsfolk in bloody and creative ways. Combining the small town atmosphere of HALLOWEEN (1978) with the body count gore of FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980), MY BLOODY VALENTINE is an example of the glut of low-budget copycat films that those two influential films inspired in the early 1980s. Adaptation of the Shakespeare play about a cad who, looking for a rich wife, winds up with the most ill-tempered woman in town. Includes a documentary about Pickford's life, "The Birth of a Legend." This "talkie" is the only film co-starring Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. This print is from the 1966 re-release, the only film Miss Pickford allowed since her retirement. It is faithful to the original except that new music and new sound effects were added by Mr. Marty Kemp of the Mary Pickford Company during his painstaking restoration of the film. Seven minutes of the footage that were in the original were removed in bits and pieces to tighten the editing and the sound of the voices was improved by new re-recording techniques since only the original sound discs, scratched and deteriorated over the years remained as the source material.
