 Keep on Singing R&B, Gladys
This feeble attempt by Gladys Knight is an abomination to jazz. I purchased it because I had not heard Miss Knight in a while on a new recording and just "figured" that she had reclused herself in order to truly study those masters who came before her such as Sarah, Billie, Dinah, and Ella. Much to my chagrin, NO SUCH LUCK. Gladys is NOT a jazz singer and does not even come close. She can't shake that R&B sound. Clearly that's not a bad thing, just DON'T try to package it as jazz. She even goes as far as changing the words to "God Bless the Child". Now that is going too far. The packaging s slick and the idea was an expensive project, but I am spoiled by the tue masters of this craft and genre... jazz singers... and Gladys just 'ain't' one of them.

 Gladys, "Classic Songs to Remember"
Gladys, being that she is such a Classic Lady, bringing back classic songs, fit her voice thruout the entire CD.I was wondering when she would come out with something so graceful. She put her signature on everyone of these songs. I would only hope that she will continue to bring back such dynamic songs from Female Jazz artist in the past. Stay tune for Volume II.

 A Different Gladys
This CD was somewhat of a disappointment. This was not your classic Gladys; some of the sultry bite that is explicably Gladys is lost in her renditions of these songs from pioneers in blues. I think she tried to sound too much like them instead of herself.

 Jazz excellence
Unlike teachemwell, I think Ms Knight does an excellent job with songs made popular by the old female masters. She has well and truly earned the right to classed as a wondeful jazz singer on this album. Also, she is backed by fine musicians making this whole package extremely worthwhile. Smooth and very cruisy.

 SHE WAS BORN TO SING THESE SONGS
THIS IS ONE OF HER BEST IN YEARS,SHE SINGS WITH A FRESHNESS LIKE NEVER BEFORE I HAVE ALL HER MUSIC AND THIS IS THE ONE THAT SENDS ME.SHE IS A TRUE DIVA.IN THE YEARS TO COME SOMEWONE WILL BE DOING A TRIBUTE CD TO HER..
