 Reissue of classic Gabrielli recordings better than the orig
These Gabrielli recordings by E Power Biggs, the Texas Boys Choir and many others opened my ears and eyes to this extraordinary era of opulent polyphony in the early 1970s. This reissue entirely recaptures the amazing acoustics of Basillica San Marco Venezia, and importantly, fixes some of the poor balance between various sections of the assembled forces and lack of tonal clarity in the original LPs. I thoroughly recommend them. The only other really good Gabrielli recording I can think of is the Paul McCreech San Rocco recordings on Archive, which present other Gabrielli works. They are really complimentary.
