Greetings From Detroit album
$10.59 Black Eyed Peas, the hip-hop crossover juggernaut that propelled singer Fergie and producer Will.I.Am to superstardom, have, since 2003's ELEPHUNK, been audaciously plugging away at their bombastic but lighthearted style of rap-cum-dance pop--an effort that has translated to a run of successful chart-topping ...
| | Leona Lewis Echo CD (2009)
Greetings From Detroit CD music
$11.18 The goal of Leona Lewis' 2007 debut, Spirit, was to prove that an X Factor winner could be a phenomenon not just in the U.K., but in the rest of the world. The goal of her second album, 2009's Echo, is to prove that success was no fluke, to build upon "Bleeding Love" and turn Lewis into an actual diva. Certainly, Echo in any of its incarnations -- its song listings are tailored for individual markets, with the U.K. getting a cover of Oasis' "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," while the U.S. gets a second song co-written by Justin Timberlake -- uses the chilly, synthesized "Bleeding Love" as its foundation, creating a sheet of sound equal parts Euro-pop and modern American R&B. As opposed ...

| | Blackstreet Another Level CD (1996)
Greetings From Detroit album
$11.99 "No Diggity" won the 1998 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal and was nominated for Best R&B Song.
Teddy Riley's fans were begging for a reunion of Guy, the trio with which he brought deep-soul music back to the R&B genre, but Riley chose to forge ahead with his new band, Blackstreet, instead. Wise move. Blackstreet's second album really does take the Riley R&B sound to ANOTHER LEVEL. It's one of the best R&B albums we've heard in a long time.
The tracks here are unbelievably funky, and though two of ...
| | Greatest Hits Of Snow CD (1997) Import
Greetings From Detroit CD music
$13.85 Considering that Snow's career crashed around the release of his second album, Murder Love, a record that didn't even chart, it might seem that the release of a Greatest Hits album is a little misleading. After all, he had only one album, 12 Inches of Snow, that produced any hit singles, of which there was a grand total of exactly two: "Informer" and "Girl, I've Been Hurt." Naturally, those two songs are included on The Greatest Hits of Snow, along with an assortment of 11 other songs that range from album tracks to failed singles like "Sexy Girl." Anyone with any interest in Snow -- whether they're a long-term fan or a casual listener who liked the mock-ragga of "Informer" -- will probably be equally satisfied by The Greatest Hits of Snow or 12 Inches of Snow, since they contain the same hits surrounded by similar filler, and both illustrate why Snow couldn't successfully follow those two catchy hits. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Discontinued in the US. This imported edition features the same 13 tracks. Warner.
Engineers include: John Ficarrotta, John Wydrycs, Michael Tuosto, Eric Abrahams, Junior Edwards.

| | Crusaders At Their Best CD (1992)
Greetings From Detroit music CDs
$6.29 Joe Sample (piano, keyboards); Pops Popwell (bass); Stix Hooper (drums, percussion).
As a band, the Crusaders were always the most respected, as intelligence and earthiness permeated throughout their best work. The group -- Joe Sample on keyboards, Wilton Felder on bass/saxophone, Wayne Henderson playing trombone, and drummer Stix Hooper -- had been together for close to 15 years when all of the work on this album, At Their Best, was recorded. The title is somewhat misleading. These tracks were compiled from two 1970-1971 albums, Old Socks, New Shoes and Pass the Plate. Both efforts were released when Motown was distributing Chisa in the early '70s. During the time the Crusaders dropped the "Jazz" part of their name, and started to simplify, but not dumb down, their arrangements. At Their Best proves that even during this stylistic ...
| | Strunz & Farah Rio De Colores CD (2003)
Greetings From Detroit songs
$13.79 Strunz & Farah haven't been much of a critics' favorite, although they have many admirers among great musicians, including the legendary Paco de Lucia. Listening to the guitar duo, it's easy to understand both sides. Both players have incredible technique, with bursts of passion. But at the same time, their new flamenco seems like a watered-down version of "real" flamenco. However, if you take Rio de Colores at face value, as an album ...
