(3 Customer Reviews)
Though they're considered 1980s industrial dance music pioneers, the Vancouver band Front Line Assembly were largely forgotten in the genre's ensuing rise in popularity. This injustice goes some way to being redressed on the eminently commercial ARTIFICIAL SOLDIER, which is packed with the kind of synthesized, hard-driving, metallic, yet dance-oriented material that's catnip both to industrial fans and to aficionados of lighter club fare. Guest vocals from Covenant's Eskil Simonsson and Front 242's Jean-Luc De Meyer are additional icing on the disco biscuit.

Front Line Assembly Artificial Soldier Songs Artificial Soldier Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) Welcome back FLA! Easily their best effort! I think this pretty much surpases anything they've done previously,
some killer tracks here, my fav's are 'unleashed', 'beneath the rubble' & 'social enemy' it's all very good regardless! If they can keep this up on the next album then their ressurection will be complete, i've got all of their catalogue all the way from 'Caustic Grip' onwards and it's an interesting journey these guys have undertaken, all the way from the rumors of 'Epitaph' being their last ever release to Members who've left only to return years later (Rhys Fulber).
I took a while to get this album due to 'Civilization' not being that crash hot! So i was quite sceptical until i read your guys reviews and thought somethings up, i gotta check it out, and i must say i am glad i did! I wonder if the remixes album out in April will be as good, lets hope so, but more importantly lets hope the next studio full length release keeps this momentum and fresh burst of creativity going..... Civilization who? Finally the album that should have followed Epitaph. The natural progression of FLA's trademark sound culminates in this awsome album. Heavy beats, awsome riffs, scratchy vocals. It's exactly what every fan wants. FLA is back!! Submitted by radmobile (Yakima, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
This is the album the industrial fans have waited for! For years the industrial scene has really tumbled under the cuspid of the electro-wave insurgence. The true originators had almost all but disappeared. The ideas here culminate the three brains of this op. This is probably the MOST energetic FLA album I have ever listened to. Props for the addition of Jean Luc De Meyer and Eskil Simonson! Several different generations of electronic music merge together in two tracks that just spark genious! FLA are back and taking no prisoners! Submitted by spahnrancher (San Antonio, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Artificial Soldier
$12.99 Initial pressings of EPITAPH are packaged in a Limited Edition digipak containing a hidden bonus track.
For some Front Line Assembly fans, Implode marked a downturn in the band's musical creativity and energy. Epitaph may sound like the title of an album that completed this descent. Instead, Epitaph marks a return to former strength for the classic electro-industrial act. All the contemporary ...

| | Delerium Nuages Du Monde CD (2006)
Artificial Soldier
$13.25 As fans are well aware, Delerium began their career recording strictly instrumental music in a highly atmospheric, soundscape vein. That musical penchant hasn't changed, but over the years the duo has utilized ever more vocalists to further enhance its sound, culminating in Nuages du Monde. This set boasts seven different female vocalists across its 11 tracks, and a mere two instrumentals. Opera star Isabel Baryakdarian powerfully opens the album with the evocative "Angelicus," her soaring vocals and the number's textured atmospheres a revelation that echoes ...

| | David Bowie Pin Ups CD (1973) Enhanced CD
Artificial Soldier
$11.15 PIN UPS is an album of songs originally performed by the Pretty Things, Them, the Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, the Mojos, the Who, the Easybeats, the Merseybeats and the Kinks.
PIN UPS served as a sort of "how to" guide to David Bowie's career. This all-covers album shed light on his ability to adopt personas and emulate musical genres with amazing speed and diversity. It also showed that Bowie was anticipating a different musical climate for the rest of the decade, signifying a change from what was admired during the 1960s.
The psychedelic overtones of Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" and the garage rock cynicism of the Easybeats' "Friday On My Mind" perfectly display Bowie's ear for melody and eye for pop-culture posturing. He even tips a hat to his more established influences. The Kinks' "Where Have All The Good Times Gone" sparks his interest as a memory-soaked ballad (a Ray Davies specialty), and with The Who's "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere" Bowie admits to not having invented the rock 'n' roll ego.
PIN UPS served another suitable ...

| | Ginger Baker Horses & Trees CD (1986) (Import) Netherlands
Artificial Soldier
$19.69 Bill Laswell's musical career has been a highly collaborative one. Almost every new release from solo excursions to a variety of mercurial group projects finds him engaged with a notable instrumentalist from the arenas of jazz, electronica, funk, hip-hop, reggae, and world music. It's not that he seems dominating as a musician per se, but the results do typically bare the producer's singular aural stamp. Horses & Trees is no exception. Persuaded by Laswell to continue working throughout the second half of 1980s, drummer Ginger Baker produced some of his most stimulating collections, not least of which were the Laswell produced Middle Passage and this 1986 set. The drummer is rock-solid throughout, which means that most of the compositions become a showcase for an impressive lineup of guest musicians that reads like a list of the Bill Laswell all-stars. Even when pared down to an all-rhythm trio on "Mountain Time," Baker, though undeniably effective, remains the big beat behind Daniel Ponce and Aiyb Dieng's percussion display. That does little to change the fact that this is one of the most enjoyable albums Baker (or Laswell) has been involved in. "Uncut" finds the likes of Bernie Worrell, Shankar and Laswell in fine form, taking solos like a jazz combo. "Dust to Dust" is the only piece composed solely by Baker (he shares credits everywhere else) and is the most stunning of the set with a repeated section that sounds like an alien ...
