This is one of those Albums you can't get out of your CD player. Great metal album.. in this case you get two! Hard, pounding music with a mix of hardcore, metal, and a power metal sound that needs to be heard to be appreciated.

Metal Church's excellent debut had impressed critics and fans alike with its ferocious blend of classic metal and thrash. But by the time they released its follow-up, 1986's The Dark, the band seemed to be struggling with their direction and wrestling with internal problems. The fact that they were collectively one of the most unattractive bands ever (even by heavy metal standards) didn't help matters either, especially in image-conscious America, so it was no surprise when the band's appeal remained firmly confined to the metal underground. A running joke in the '90s had it that plenty of goth/industrial types ended up in rave culture, whether due to changing tastes or simply because of appreciation of punishing beats -- certainly the roots of so much techno in those styles had always been subculturally clear.
