This deluxe edition is packed with extras. Included is the CD album with a bonus unreleased track, and a bonus DVD packed with over 3 hours of footage including an hour-long live performances and music vidoes.
Knowing that COMMIT THIS TO MEMORY was produced by Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, some listeners might assume that Motion City Soundtrack numbers among the scores of Blink clones who emerged in the wake of Hoppus and crew's massive 1990s success. MSC, however, places far more emphasis on the pop half of the pop-punk equation than their Orange County counterparts. Often sounding as if they draw inspiration as much from the Outfield as from the Descendents, the group tempers it's raging guitars and pounding drums with a firm grasp of melody, and strong vocals delivered with a decided lack of snotty punk attitude. In addition, singer Justin Pierre's voice frequently bears a strong resemblance to that of Colin Hay from Men At Work (particularly on "When You're Around"). Lyrically, Motion City Soundtrack takes a cue from the no-holds-barred honesty of emo, but with more emphasis on craft. On "Together We'll Ring in the New Year" Pierre's pipes are clear and honest, riding over bed of clean, ringing guitars with the same wistful end-of-the-party elegance that characterized Semisonic's classic "Closing Time."

This album is completely worth the money. It's probably one of the FEW albums, especially double disc, that are actually worth it. The CD has great music, including a new track that was recently only available in japan. THe DVD is jam packed with footage, a one-hour live performance, music videos, a slideshow, deleted scenes, and a 2 hour documentary! Both the CD and the DVD are amazing, and I believe that if you buy it, it will become one of your favorite CD's! Plus the entire album is produced by Blink-182's Mark Hoppus, and his production skills only add to the amzing music on such songs as "Everything is Alright", "L.G. Fuad", and "Hangman". This will be one of your top ten CDs for years to come!

Joan Osborne cut her teeth on the Greenwich Village club circuit, and with her major label debut, RELISH, she confidently shows off the fruits of paying her dues. Osborne's music starts with a raspy vocal style that is stock for the musical bouillabaisse that she cooks up.
Osborne's roots lie in Kentucky and like Janis Joplin, another southern songbird, she has a voice that easily goes from a sexy growl to a sassy purr. Aided by Eric Bazilian and Rob Hyman of Hooters fame, Osborne mixes in distinctive covers (Bob Dylan, Sonny Boy Williamson) with her own offbeat originals. A snippet of an Alan Lomax field recording of Nell Hampton's "The Airplane Ride" prefaces the theological musings of "One Of Us," which wonders whether God may be an anonymous being shuffling along as one of the faceless masses. Omar Hakim's drumming paces "Spider Web," a song about a world where Ray Charles can see.
