| | Cindy Alexander Angels & Demons CD (2005)
Jazz Ballads
$12.69 Born weighing only four and a half pounds but with the voice that could fill a stadium....her parents figured G-d had a plan, they just weren't in on the joke. They sent their little "peanut" to the "crying doctor" when she was 5 only to be told she just "wanted attention." By 20 she stopped crying but she had head aches. And one day, Cindy Alexander was so irritated and grumpy because the guy who lived in the apartment above her blasted his stereo so loud that it brought on her migraines - so finally she crawled out of bed and pounded on his door asking him to turn it down. Instead of fighting, Cindy and Paul Trudeau became best of friends and started a band. After a couple of years, a lot of gigs, and a ton of emotional epiphanies, Cindy put out a cd which was a compilation of her demos: See Red. Most of the tracks were produced by David Darling (Boxing Ghandis/ Meredith Brooks/ Brian Setzer) and Paul Trudeau (the apartment mate with the booming stereo). See Red earned a nomination for Album of the Year by the L.A. Music Awards, who the year before crowned her Songwriter of the Year and nominated her for Female Vocalist of the Year. The "Peanut Gallery" (aka Cindy Alexander fans) grew exponentially and Cindy rode the wave of the internet, topping charts at mp3.com and becoming one of Amazon.com's best indie sellers. Cindy has also appeared on several soundtracks and compilations (Sugar & Spice soundtrack on Trauma Records/ Chilled Sirens on Water Music Records/ Sunday Brunch on Treadstone Records) and her music has been featured in films (Here on Earth, Smokers, Sugar & Spice, and numerous indies) and television (Party of Five),! all of which have served to increase her international exposure. The "Peanut" is relentless: she tours nationally and internationally, ...
| | Victor Bravo Shut Out The Sky CD (2006)
Jazz Ballads
$7.19 Victor Bravo is made up by two guys from Maine who escaped out of the cold badlands for the relative warmth and laid-back ease of New York City. They burst out on the crest of furious, pumping, garage-punk rock that people compare to Mudhoney, Husker Du, and the Ramones. Born in the same town, in the same hospital, in the same week, at times their performances make it seem like they're reading each other's minds.Dan pounds the drums in a unique and sometimes terrifying way – broken sticks, cymbals, heads, shells, stands, bloodied hands, and other musicians standing aghast are the norm. Collin fires up blazing, dense, distorted guitar work and sings his guts out until people are shaking. Together, their songs are klaxon-blast warnings about everything that looms up to destroy you when you're not alert: parents, partners, politicos, and all the various forces of darkness.----------------------------------------------------------Much like Mudhoney's classic ode to diseased behavior, "Touch Me I'm Sick," Victor Bravo produce nauseating noise ...

$21.45 Their IdealThe musical relationship of these four musicians began in 1997. Most probably, it is this long cooperation which creates this atmosphere of familiarity at their concerts and allows the audience to bathe in their sound with an open ear and an open spirit, a sound that allows various kinds of interpretation. The protagonists‘ motivation to be musicians derives from an idea based on musical independence and the wish to constantly defend it. They are traditional avantguardists with a burning feu-sacré: jazz is life. They don’t re-invent everything from scratch and they don’t copy any seasonal fashions. The aim is rather to provoke given norms or even to break them. Virtuosity is never reduced to a means unto itself; their honest music is based on playful interpretation, a vital interplay and a risky „to and fro of ideas“.Personal dataMarcel Lüscher (Baden) studied the saxophone at the Jazz Schools of Berne and Basel. His teachers were George Robert, Christian Baader, Domenic Landolf and Dani Blanc. Furthermore, he spent an intensive time in the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, USA. One highlight was taking part at the International Music Festival in Sydney. From January to August 2003 he lived in Paris. During this time he worked and performed with the chanson formation „De rien“ and took part in CD-recordings of the triphop band „Vasistas“. He attended the masterclass of George Garzone. Concerts with Pepe Lienhard, the Culture Centre ...
