| | Frank Sinatra Nothing But The Best CD (2008) Remastered
Apero Piano, Vol. 2 CD music
$15.39 "The Chairman of the Board" died in May of 1998, yet his music sounds as vital and relevant today as ever. Released on the 10th anniversary of his death--in coordination with a slew of DVD releases commemorating the singer's acting career as well as an official U.S. Postal Service stamp--NOTHING BUT THE BEST provides an excellent look at Sinatra's tenure at the Reprise label. Among the album's 22 vintage cuts are classics such as "The Way You Look Tonight," "Luck Be a Lady," "Strangers in the Night," and "My Way." The disc also contains a bonus track in the previously unreleased recording ...
| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Apero Piano, Vol. 2 music CDs
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive manner. In addition to standards by Gershwin and Porter, Buble embraces a variety of sounds, from Motown ("How Sweet It Is") to bossa nova ("Quando, Quando, Quando" with Nelly Furtado) to the Beatles ("Can't Buy Me Love" with a "She Loves You" tag). With his smooth croon and charming persona, Buble is a natural performer, and, for fans of fearlessly ...

Apero Piano, Vol. 2 album
$18.29 There may only be two members from Hanoi Rocks' classic days left in attendance -- singer Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy -- but the early 21st century version of the group has no problem replicating its trademark glam-punk. Case in point, 2007's Street Poetry. With countless modern-day rock bands smoothing out all the rough edges, it's good to know that you can count on Hanoi Rocks to leave it all rough and raw. And while there may be a sudden uprising of bands that attempt to ape Hanoi Rocks' gutter-punk style, there's nothing like the originators, as evidenced by such rocking standouts as "Hypermobile," "Highwired," "Teenage Revolution," and the melodic title track. With only two of the original Hanoi Rockers creating this enjoyable of a racket, it's safe to say that if the definitive 1984 line-up had stayed together, they could have become a household name like Mötley Crüe and Guns N' Roses. ~ Greg Prato
