| | Jim Fusco What About Today? CD (2005)
Trumpet Mood: Best Selection songs
$10.15 "What About Today?", Jim Fusco's sixth solo studio release, is a big step forward for Jim in both production quality and songwriting. Jim's music ability is now at the level in which he feels confident that ANYONE who listens to his music will become an instant fan. This album, which consists of 13 songs, is also Jim's best lyrical album to date. He hopes to define himself as a lyricist as well as a musician with this release. The songs on this album all run together. After all the songs for the album were written, Jim went to see Brian Wilson's SMiLE Live tour in New York City. After that, he wanted to form his new material with a style that was similar to the SMiLE album. On "What About Today?", Jim arranged the songs so that the last chord of one song matches the first chord of the next song, making for a very interesting fluid motion of sound throughout the disc. There are also little interludes of tunes from various songs on the album dispersed within other parts of the album. For instance, the piano tune to the song "Sideshow" (which is track 13) appears right after the first song on the album. The way these musical moments work to shape the album as a whole make this album a wonderful listening experience from top to bottom. Jim also got this idea from "SMiLE".A great combination of rock'n'roll with influences like the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Byrds, the Moody Blues, America, Barenaked Ladies, Ben Folds, Wondermints, and many others give Jim a great "classic" feel with a breath of fresh "21-year-old" air.The album also combines electric and acoustic guitars, great guitar solos, drums, bass, percussion, and of course, harmonies. It's a combination that you'll fall in love with! So, "What's left to do", but listen to the songs and get the album!! Here's a bio of Jim up until now: Jim Fusco was born on April 29, 1984 in East Haven, CT. He lived there with his parents until his brother, Mike, was born in 1986. The family then moved to Wallingford, CT, where they live today. Jim and Mike spent all of their time together, beginning to play music at an early age. Mike received a small plastic drum set, but both used the toy instrument. Jim then asked for his own drum set: first getting a beginners kit, then graduating to a full-sized drum set that he and Mike still use today. Jim began to take drum lessons from Doug Sabino and learned all the various drum techniques needed to play full songs. Through his years of schooling, Jim mastered the instrument. However, this left Jim wanting more. So, he took over a hundred dollars he saved up to buy an electric keyboard. He began to teach himself how to play and began work with MIDI programming on the computer. When Jim came up with a few songs on the keyboard, he began production on his first album, ...
