| | JOE All That I Am CD - Import JOE Discography of CDs
On ALL THAT I AM, Joe offers 12 tracks of slow, smooth R&B stylings, with diverse arrangements and creative performance, all centered around the breathy, earnest voice of Joe Thomas. In addition to his multi-tracked vocal arrangements, Joe also makes substantial keyboard, programming, and production contributions.
Lyrically, the album ranges from the swaggering bravado of "The Love Scene" to the emotional vulnerability of "No One Else Comes Close." Not wanting to fall back on R&B cliches, Joe opts for a fresher metaphor--"I hear he' s got you in lockdown, but I got the master key" ["All The Things (Your Man Won't Do)"]. ALL THAT I AM features some impressive production tricks including the reverse loop intro to "U Shoulda Told Me (U had A Man)," the flanged vocal effects of "Don't Wanna Be A Player" and exotic instrumental samples throughout.

All That I Am album
$8.04 Within a couple years, Canadian teenager Justin Bieber went from covering Usher on YouTube to working with Usher. An internet sensation from his renditions of several pop and pop-oriented R&B hits, he was still only 15 years old when he released this, his first album -- though it's more like an EP since it is contains only seven songs that are 25 minutes in duration. Given the comfort level he showed in the ...
| | Jay-Z The Blueprint 3 CD (2009)
All That I Am CD music
$15.65 On THE BLUEPRINT 3, still unretired Jay-Z announces "the only rapper to rewrite history without a pen." It's a standard Jigga boast, but the Brooklyn icon has earned the bragging by backing it up, particularly on his gold-label, top-shelf BLUEPRINT series. Ever-ready for battle, Jay-Z takes on autotune, crossover radio, and many other hip-hop concerns with the gloriously jagged rap elan for which he's become known.
When Jay-Z first made a series out of his best album, 2001's The Blueprint, it became a game of high expectations. The first volume saw Jay-Z as vital as he'd ever been, storming back to the hardcore after a few years of commercial success. THE BLUEPRINT 2 took a different tack, with guest shots ...

| | Dr Dre Dr. Dre 2001 CD (1999)
All That I Am songs
$10.49 "Guilty Conscience" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By Duo Or Group.
"Forgot About Dre" won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. DR. DRE 2001 was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "The Next Episode" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
"Still D.R.E." was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
With 2001, Dr. Dre has managed to do the seemingly impossible: resurface yet again after a five-year disappearance from the rap game, and shatter all expectations. The first two tracks lull the listener into thinking this is going to be a mellow, G-funk outing, but when the piano loop and beat commence in "Still D.R.E.," it's obvious Dre is still light years ahead of the rest. The seemingly disparate styles of guest artists MC Ren, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem are all unified by Dre's singular musical vision.
What makes this record stand out from any other gangsta rap recording before it, however, are the flashes of brutal honesty that pepper the lyrics ("What's the Difference"). Something about Dre's persona and delivery ...
| | Isley Brothers Love Songs CD (2001)
All That I Am album
$6.25 Originally released on T-Neck Records. Includes liner notes by Virginia Prescott.
Along the way to being a bridge throughout the history of R&B throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the Isley Brothers also directly helped shape facets of the genre along the way. Starting in the '70s, eldest Isley siblings Ronald, Rudolph, and the late O'Kelly carved out a soundtrack for silk-sheet relations along with fellow love lords Barry White and Marvin Gaye.
This collection hinges on Ronald Isley's creamy falsetto; it's easy to mistake him for Al Green, particularly against a background of swirling keyboards on "For the Love of You (Parts ...

| | Dan Hicks Selected Shorts CD (2004) Bonus Tracks; Japan
All That I Am CD music
$34.69 Dan Hicks' multifaceted musicality and adroit lyrical aptitude surface on Selected Shorts (2004). Backed by his 21st century reformation of the Hot Licks -- including the powerhouse rhythm section of Jim Keltner (drums) and Tony Garnier (bass) -- Hicks blends his love of swing and continental jazz into a uniquely modern sensibility. He likewise remains remarkably prolific, penning 11 of the set's 14 cuts. The eclectic affair opens with a spry "Mama's Boy Blues" that barrels along, augmented by some piquant Hammond B-3 organ maneuvers from Mike Finnigan. "That's Where I'm At" is a hot-steppin' ...
