Dusty's fans will appreciate these great songs from her early days back in the early - and mid-sixties... I was after her song with her brother's group the Springfields back in '62, "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" .... great album ! ... ray.

Gold songs Sorry, but I love the cover photo. I've loved it - and Dusty - since first seeing and hearing her as a kid in the mid 60s. And this collection of tunes (there are so many Dusty collections!) is a good overview of what the girl from Hampstead was all about. From the big orchestrations of the 60s through the more soulful Philly and Atlantic soul of the early 70s, to the synthed pop of the 80s she always exuded class. Apparently she was extremely difficult on herself and those working with her, but the girl had a vision, and thank goodness for that. It's too bad more of today's female singers don't reference her work. If they did they would have learned that (1) you can keep you clothes on a still be taken seriously, (2) a good song is a good song... nothing less should do, (3) there is no need for histrionics... no need to shout, scream or screech, and (4) having everyone from Paul McCartney, Elton John, Burt Bacharach, Amy Winehouse and so many more as your fans is no bad thing. Her singing - that breathy voice that could swoop and soar with such ease - still brings tears to my eyes. But most of all, I lust over the photo... sorry.

||Good choice for overview of her music|
I got this collection with 2 CDs because I wanted the hits I Only Want To Be With You,Wishin' And Hopin', You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, The Look Of Love, and Son Of A Preacher Man and two of them are on the second CD. I figured though that it was a good idea to get a collection with more songs. Her earlier work on the first CD is definitely better than the second CD, but this is still worth it for getting a good overview of her career. I like the Pet Shop Boys so #14 on the second CD, What Have I Done to Deserve This?, is nice to have on there, and a song that my husband likes is an interesting song Am I The Same Girl?, a vocal rendition of Young Holt Unlimited's "Soulful Strut"
