30 Merengues Pegaditos Lo Nuevo Y Lo Mejor 2006 album
$15.89 A TODOS CUBA LE GUSTA was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Tropical Latin Performance.
A lively, spontaneous record that manages to sound both relaxed and forceful at the same time, A Toda Cuba Le Gusta shows off the talents of many of Cuba's elder statesmen of Afro-Cuban jazz. Over gently pulsating conga grooves and low-register ostinatos, such luminaries as pianist Ruben Gonzalez and singer Manuel "Puntillita" Licea float dramatic melodies, as their solo contributions are answered ...

$12.49 Contains eleven tracks taken from The Aluminum Group's debut album, WONDER BOY, as well as ten previously unavailable tracks.
After releasing The Aluminum Group's second album, 1998's PLANO, Minty Fresh Records rescued the band's 1995 debut from obscurity and augmented the reissue with 10 previously unreleased tracks. There's a certain similarity to the Magnetic Fields in "The Smallest Man In The World," and the beautifully sparse opener, "Chocolates," bears striking resemblance to the beatnik-y jazz-pop of the Young Marble Giants.
Elsewhere, Frank and John Navin's spacious arrangements-heavy on acoustic guitars and upright bass and colored by subtle keyboards-recall Everything But ...

30 Merengues Pegaditos Lo Nuevo Y Lo Mejor 2006 music CDs
$9.69 Their last album to hit the charts, 1985's When the Boys Meet the Girls found Sister Sledge attempting to return to past form as they brought Chic's Nile Rodgers back onboard to produce and perform. And although the move would ultimately prove ineffective, as the album appeared and hovered just out of the Top 50, this easy pairing returned the sisters to an earlier edge. With the title track backed by an eclectic arrangement, those classic punchy Sister Sledge vocals were pushed well into the front of the action. The album birthed two further standouts, as both "Frankie," which is spun to become reggae-lite, and the heavily Rodgers-influenced club hit "Dancing on the Jagged Edge" rippled off the grooves. The latter, just barely limping to a paltry number 73 R&B, would prove the band's last hit until their comeback in the early '90s. Elsewhere, the Kathy Sledge-led ...

30 Merengues Pegaditos Lo Nuevo Y Lo Mejor 2006 album
$9.75 More than a simple ol' label sampler, the Definitive Jux Presents volumes are put together with care by the left-field hip-hop label, are usually fat with exclusives, and have always come with one new act to get excited about. Here, it's a "sort of" new group, as alt hip-hop supergroup the Weathermen (Aesop Rock, Breezly Brewin', Cage, the late Camu Tao, Tame One, and Y@K Ballz) return after six years off. Here main members Aesop, Cage, and El-P present "Reports of a Possible Kidnapping," a juggernaut of an opener, dense with surreal rhymes and paranoid beats. The loss of Camu Tao has obviously ...
