Seven Swordsmen - The Complete TV Series Movie Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) Seven Swordsmen = Awesome series! The story is very well writen and all the characters are well developed and presented. Action scenes are excellent. My only complaint would be the ending. The ending was so so, maybe was done intentionally for a future sequel but I dont know. I must also note that I totally agree with one of the other reviwers about how you can make an awesome show without adding sex and naked people. Stuff like that doesn't make a good movie/show, its the story and the characters. 5 Stars all the way! Buy it! Submitted by T.D (R.C, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Wow, such a great series(but very disappointing ending) All the char are exceptionally well developed, there's a turn around every corner, and it is literally impossible to predict what's gonna happan next(going by logic or even factoring the ilogical state of love wont even help you predict what's gonna happen). The fighting overall is pretty good(the special effects are slightly over done in places, but otherwise, they did a great job). There are a few issues I have, there are a few minor errors in the subtitle translation(using "you", when they should've used "your", exc), but is still very readable, and then there is a issue with the ending.
Most of the ending, doesn't even make an ounce of sense, when it is happening, now they do clean most of it up in the last few minutes of the ending, but they leave a few of the more major loose ends just hanging there(which would've only took 15-45 more min tops to clean up), on top of which, the ending in general was pretty disappointing(I mean come on, do these char ever get a break. I was hoping that finally after all their hardships they went through, something would pay off).
Over all though, the "Seven Swordsmen" was a great series, and well worth the $50 it costs. Submitted by zoltor617 (Hackensack, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
fans of Chinese Wuxia genre will not be dissapointed I just completed the DVDs of this series. The character development is VERY good. This series is based off the Chinese novel "Seven Swordsmen of Mt. Tian", and it will show you the COMPLETE story through 39 episodes, 40minutes each.
I would give this a 10, but the English subtitles on the DVD are HORRIBLE. If you don't understand Chinese, then it's best to not buy this, since the subtitles will definitely annoy you.
The graphics are alright, nothing special. You won't see anything flashy like in Shaolin Soccer, Kungfu Hustle or Demi-Gods/Semi-Devils(2003 version).
However, you WILL see a great unique drama and character development. It's not the best Wuxia series, but it's still memorable. I definitely reccommend this to any fans of Chinese Wuxia genre. Submitted by Tony (California, US) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
ASIAN MYSELF AND THE SEVEN SWORDSMEN SERIES I LOVED THE MOVIE. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THEY ANNOUNCE THE SEQUEL, WELL AT LEAST I HOPE THEY MAKE ONE. I HATE SEEING AMERICAN CRITICS REVIEW THESE CHINESE TIME PERIOD MOVIES BECAUSE ALL THEY WANT IS NAKED PEOPLE OR SEXUALLY EXPLICIT SITUATIONS. WHAT IS THERE NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THESE TYPES OF MOVIES? IT HAS ACTION, LOVE TRIANGLES, AND EVEN PEOPLE GETTING CHOPPED UP. THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE GREAT TOO AND TO THESE CRITICS THE CAMERA IS NEVER DOING WHAT THEY THINK IT SHOULD DO. WHY DON'T YOU GO OUT AND TRY TO DO WHAT THEY DO? YOU PROBABLY WOULD NOT DO AS WELL. THEY PUT ASIAN MOVIE GOERS AHEAD OF THE AMERICAN AUDIENCES AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT? I THINK THAT THESE CRITICS DON'T TRY TO THINK LIKE OR EVEN TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT OTHER ASIAN PEOPLE LIKE IN THESE TYPES OF MOVIES. LIKE I STATED IN MY HEADLINE, I AM ASIAN AND LOVE THE SEVEN SWORDSMEN. GO OUT AND WATCH THIS SERIES AND GET CAUGHT UP IN THE STORY. THE ENDING WILL MAKE YOU WANT MORE. I WANT MORE!!
