| | Norah Jones Fall CD (2009)
Forever-Best Of
$14.44 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon, but King hardly pushes Norah in a rock direction; The Fall does bear some mild ...
| | Lou Reed New Sensations CD (1984) Reissue; Remastered
Forever-Best Of
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one ...

| | Nirvana Live At Reading CD (2009)
Forever-Best Of
$11.16 Certain concerts create a legend as soon as the final note ceases to ring. Nirvana's headlining appearance at the 1992 Reading Festival is one of these shows, a concert that arrived at precisely the right moment and stands as testament to a band at the peak of its powers...and right before things started to turn sour within the Nirvana camp. Despite the happy news of the birth of Frances Bean Cobain a mere 12 days before this August 30 festival, rumors swirled around Nirvana right up until the band hit the stage. Kurt Cobain took full advantage of these scurrilous stories, making his entrance in a hospital gown and wheelchair pushed by journalist Everett True. Cobain feebly reached for the microphone to croak out the opening lines of "The Rose," only to collapse onto the stage, milking the drama for a moment before leading ...
| | Best Of John Lee Hooker 1965 To 1974 CD (1992)
Forever-Best Of
$8.49 Recorded between November 1965 and May 1974. Includes liner notes by Colin Escott.
Digitally remastered by Robert Stoughton (MCA Studios, N. Hollywood, California).
In the '60s and early '70s, Hooker experienced an enormous surge in popularity as folk and rock audiences began to discover the joys of traditional blues. Though the days of Hooker's classic Chess sides-which featured only the bluesman's raw voice, wiry, distorted electric guitar, and a rhythm track consisting of Hooker's foot pounding a miked 2x4-were long gone, the artist had attained a new fluency with full backing bands.
The tunes included here are culled from some of Hooker's finest '60s releases, including IT SERVES YOU RIGHT TO SUFFER, THE REAL FOLK BLUES, and URBAN BLUES. The disc is packed with favorites-"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," "I'm In The Mood," "House Rent Boogie," and an incendiary live version of "I'm Bad Like Jesse James" that features the mind-boggling line-up of Otis Spann on piano and Muddy Waters, Sammy Lawhorn, and Luther Johnson on guitars. Many of the sessions, in fact, are studded with stars, as Elvin Bishop, Steve Miller, and even Van Morrison (who duets with Hooker on "Never Get Out Of These Blues Alive") all put in appearances. This set is probably the finest single disc introduction to Hooker's work from this period.
Reissue producer: Andy McKaie.
Personnel: John Lee Hooker (vocals, guitar); Van Morrison (vocals, guitar); Jim Kahr, Dan Alexander, Eddie Kirkland, Eddie "Guitar" Burns, Stephen Miller , Hollywood Fats, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson, Muddy Waters, Sammy Lawhorn, ...
