(1 Customer Review)
"Satellite" opens with a strummed acoustic guitar, bubbling bass lines, and a snaking keyboard riff before Ryan Miller's moody melody enters. Before the song is done, there will be distorted guitars, harmonica, organ, and as rich a sound as Guster has achieved so far. "One Man Wrecking Machine" is a nostalgic lament anchored by a full drum kit, with chunky guitar lines and a perfect alt/indie chorus. This album presents a dizzying variety of new faces for the band, all connected by Guster's melodic pop instincts and quirky sensibility.
Don't waste your time listening for bongos here. GANGING UP ON THE SUN sees Guster moving far beyond the groovy college-radio reputation that made them such campus favorites. Admittedly, there are still a few bongos, but this disc continues the progression begun on KEEP IT TOGETHER into a realm of eclectic, countrified guitar-pop.
Guster: Ryan Miller, Adam Gardner (vocals, guitar); Joe Pisapia (various instruments); Brian Rosenworcel (percussion).
Spin (p.84) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he now incorporate Echoplex and swirling organs. With the bands' pop instincts craftier than ever..." Entertainment Weekly (p.69) - "GANGING UP is both expansive and dreamy, while the track RUBY FALLS comes off as positively psychedelic..." -- Grade: B+ Alternative Press (p.218) - 4 out of 5 -- "[L]ayers of rich sound -- barroom piano, crunchy guitars, billowing horns and muted keyboards -- envelop SUN's songs with warmth." $9.95 Signing to a major-label doesn't really change Guster's outlook for their third album, Lost & Gone Forever. However, the switch to the big leagues has given the band the opportunity to hire a heavy-hitter producer, Steve Lillywhite, who performs a similar function here ...

$11.49 Originally put together by Sun Records in 1962, some four years after Johnny Cash had flown the coop to Columbia, this collection of train-related songs actually holds together better than many more recent compilations. Together with the familiar strains of "Rock Island Line," "The Wreck of Old '97," and "Hey, Porter!," the 21st-century version features previously unreleased outtakes and demos of songs like Jimmie Rodgers' "Brakeman's Blues," Cash's own "Leave That Junk Alone," and his "You're My ...

$16.45 This planet to me is often a jungle. Sometimes it is wild like a Tiger and sometimes as delicate as the petals of the flowers. I believe we all have been given beautiful, meaningful gifts and talents by our Creator... He plants the seeds and gives us the opportunity to go through the thorns of life to find the roses from which we make lovely arrangements to share with those we love. I have never enjoyed anything more than sharing Roses In The Rain. If you ever have a doubt in God's great creation, just look deeply into the heart of a Rose and you will find part of your own heart there. Come sing with me in, Roses In The Rain... You help form the pieces of my life's puzzle into total perfection, giving me parts of yourself to help make me who I am. Your love and loyalty is grander than fiction and I cherish it with a passion.
