The second album from the duo that is Thomas Strønen and Ståle Storløkken, now simply calling themselves Humcrush, after the title of their debut from 2004. While that had a focus on rhythm and abstract grooves, this is a more varied, subtle and somehow eclectic output. Thomas Strønen has studied music and composition. He is a regular member of several bands, most notably Food, Maria Kannegaard Trio and Parish, the quartet led by Swedish ace pianist Bobo Stenson. Having appeared on 30 records, he released his first solo album Pohlitz earlier this year. Ståle Storløkken is a founding member of Supersilent, Terje Rypdal's Skywards, Bol and jazzrock quartet Cucumber but was first noticed with freeform trio Veslefrekk with fellow Supersilent members Arve Henriksen and Jarle Vespestad. This group was formed as a result of meeting at the "jazz academy" in Trondheim, an important breeding ground for a whole generation of young players in Norway. Storløkken is probably the most interesting and adventurous electric keyboard player operating on the Norwegian scene at the moment. Rush is no stranger to best-of compilation albums, they've released a slew of them. They are also no stranger to DVDs. To mark their 35th anniversary, they've released Working Men, which is both; it marks their first best-of live compilation exclusively from the DVD sets Rush in Rio (2003), R30 (2005), and Snakes & Arrows Live (2008). Get at me dog! DMX returns with his sophomore album, FLESH OF MY FLESH BLOOD OF MY BLOOD, a sixteen cut collection of tracks that scream with energy and vocal prowess. In a move that bucks the trend of collaboration-heavy albums, FLESH OF MY FLESH BLOOD OF MY BLOOD, has only a few strategically placed collaborations. The Lox and Jay-Z drop science on "Blackout," while Mary J. Blige adds her smooth R&B touch to "Coming From." Perhaps the most improbable pairing is on "The Omen," which features Shock-turned-Glam Rocker Marilyn Manson. The track uses a sample from the famous horror movie of the same name from the late 1970's. Various producers including Swizz Beatz ("It's All Good"), PK and Dame Grease ("Dogs For Life") handle the beats, which range from street hard to jazzy smooth.
