Since his first appearances in the late 1960s, Kris Kristofferson has been quietly achieving legendary status as a songwriter and performer, earning the admiration of the listening public and fellow musicians alike. PILGRIM: A CELEBRATION OF KRIS KRISTOFFERSON gives that admiration a formal public showing in the form of a tribute album featuring the likes of Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Gretchen Wilson, Randy Scruggs, and others.
As the author of "For the Good Times," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," and "Me and Bobby McGee," Kristofferson has a fair number of iconic classics to his name, but the real surprise of PILGRIM is how the guest artists breathe new life into the tunes. Rosanne Cash's plaintive version of "Lovin' Him Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)" and Willie Nelson's breezy take on "The Legend" are only two of the album's many lovely standouts.Dirty Linen (p.47) - "[T]he breadth of Kristofferson's body of work is emphasized. It also illustrates that a good song with a well-told story and a solid melody transcends genre."

Great selection of tracks of Kristofferson songs, what really would have made this a killer of a CD is if Kris would have done duets with the artists on the CD, Regardless, Kris is one of the greatest song writers ever.

I've been a fan of Kris since I saw 'Cisco Pike' in '72. The next day I went and bought The Silver-Tonqued Devil and I and have loved everything he's done since. So when I saw this CD advertised and other people singing his songs, I wondered... Well, no one can sing his songs better than Kris, but some of the voices did a very good job(except Me and Bobbi McGee-terrible). Overall, a very enjoyable different sound to the songs of one of the best songwriters of all time.

The British jazz quintet led by Ian Carr and Don Rendell recorded this album in 1969, and it has been unavailable for years.
This re-release on the BGO label is completely remastered and comes with voluminous liner notes from Ian Carr and jazz writer Alyn Shipton.
Change Is, is the final album by the Don Rendell/Ian Carr quintet, a small Brit jazz group that took the country by storm and was well received in Europe and in limited circles in the United States. The band developed a unique sound that came out of hard bop and moved through many different phases, developing a unique musical language before they reached the mountain top of creative expression with this final album. Trumpeter Ian Carr, of course went on to form Nucleus, and enjoyed continued high-profile success. Saxophonist Rendell took a lower key approach but continues to contribute to the growth of British jazz with numerous projects as a leader and as a sideman. Other players here include pianist and composer Michael Garrick, drummer Trevor Tomkins, and bassist Dave Green. Guests on this set include African percussionist Guy Warren, saxophonist Stan Robinson, bassist Jeff Clyne, and pianist Mike Pyne. The six selections on Change Is run the gamut.
