| | Richard Harris Macarthur Park CD (1997)
Cotidiano songs
$11.19 MACARTHUR PARK goes beyond the famous hit title track to explore the recorded work of stage and screen actor Richard Harris, including his versions of "Paper Chase" and "Name Of My Sorrow."
This CD reissue from England is almost (but not quite) identical to Raven Records' Richard Harris: The Webb Sessions 1968-69 from Australia, combining the contents of the albums A Tramp Shining and The Yard Went on Forever. The difference is the absence of the last Richard Harris-Jimmy Webb collaboration, "One of the Nicer Things," which appeared as a free-standing single in 1969. Alan Hodgson's annotation is slightly less informative than the notes by Jimmy Webb on the Raven CD. On the other hand, this disc is also about $3-$5 cheaper, so budget-minded fans may appreciate it. As for the sound, it ...
| | Claude Challe Buddha-Bar, Vol. II CDs
Cotidiano album
$40.49 Claude Challe's Buddha-Bar, Vol. II compilation has elements of Far Eastern spirituality, African song, European electronica, and Spanish spice. The first album, Buddha-Bar, is very mellow for the most part. Deepak Chopra and Demi Moore, far and away the most recognizable names on the album, do a spoken word ditty on love and self-worth. People who are not fans of new age doctrine will appreciate artists such as Oliver Shanti and Consuelo Luz, both of whom contribute songs that manage to sound musical, spiritual and ethnic at once. The second album varies from hallucinatory to groovy to fairly high-energy. "Tears Inshalla" will appeal to fans of Eastern-influenced trance. Lyrics are of almost no importance on the album. They do exist on most tracks, but they ...

| | W C Clark From Austin With Soul CD (2002)
Cotidiano music CDs
$15.45 Although he records for Alligator -- Chicago's home of "house-rocking music" -- this long-awaited return from Austin's founding father of the blues might just as well have been waxed during the glory years of Hi Records. As on his last release, guitarist/vocalist Clark meshes R&B with gospel, funk, and blues in a greasy Memphis soul stew that bubbles with passion. The delight Clark exudes in playing this music is evident on every track. His lead guitar playing sparkles, but is mostly reduced to fills and takes a back seat to the jaw-dropping singing that reaches out and grabs the listener. Like Al Green, with whom he shares a similar vocal approach, Clark testifies with every phrase. Not religious-based, this ...

| | Kevin Cahoon Doll CD (2006)
Cotidiano CD music
$12.95 Sometimes, an album's opening track can tell you everything you need to know about an artist. Other times, an opening track can be an example of first impressions being deceiving -- and that is exactly what happens on Kevin Cahoon's Doll. This CD's title track and first full-length song (after a brief intro that incorporates the theme from the '70s sitcom Good Times) is a self-deprecating number in which Cahoon sings about being the ultimate high-school geek/nerd/dork; the lyrics are pure emo. But after that title song, it becomes clear that Cahoon's punk-pop doesn't fit neatly into the emo category. Actually, most of Doll is best described as non-emo punk-pop meets glam rock -- and catchy tracks like "Saved by the Beauty," "Bitch" (not to be confused with the Rolling Stones classic), "Mirrorball Prophecy," and "Star Ballad" have way too much glam, glitter, and gloss for Cahoon to be considered a true-blue emo artist. Emo is ...
| | Liz Miller Baby Fantasy: Projections Of A New Mother CD (2001)
Cotidiano music CDs
$22.75 THE ULTIMATE BABY SHOWER GIFT: FOR THE NEW MOM!Baby Fantasy: Projections of a New MotherThe StoryYears in the making, this awesome musical CD follows the journey of a new mother, who, after asking the hard questions during delivery of her first child, falls into a dream fueled by exhaustion and hormones. In the dream, the mother becomes her own baby daughter. Her husband, her doctors and nurses have all joined her as infants. Written from an RN perspective, we listen and follow the mother and her friends through stages of growth and development. In the nursery, the issues involve being new to the world, breast feeding, and meeting needs in a world without language. As the scenes progress, so do the ages of the children. In the pediatrician's office at 1 year, some of the children are walking. The concerns are of health and language. At 21/2 years, the playground scene addresses safety-both physical and emotional. The last day of pre-school finds the children as essential components of society and the importance of finding one's place in the world. When the mother wakes from her dream, she has answered her own questions and is now relaxed enough to embrace her new role as mother. She sings a lullaby in the form of a promise to her baby. The nurse informs her that before long , GOD willing, she will be a grandmother. The ...
| | Art Zoyd Experiences De Vol CDs (2002) Boxed Set
Cotidiano songs
$18.05 The chamber rock-cum-avant-garde ensemble Art Zoyd had a studio in Mons. The contemporary Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles was based in Maubeuge, just across the Franco-Belgian border. When musical directors Gérard Hourbette and Jean-Paul Dessy decided to work together they formed the Centre Transfrontalier de Production et Création Musicales and began to welcome composers in residence. Expériences de Vol is a triple-CD set of recordings featuring both ensembles performing works composed for this project by a wide array of artists ranging from contemporary composers to names more usually associated with the electronica scene. An Art Zoyd album this is not; instead what you get is a strong collection of challenging works. Some stay too close to the academic sphere to light up any sparks, although Kasper T. Toeplitz's "Biel" is delightfully minimalist and Christophe Jean Feldhandler and Dessy's pieces contain some beautiful moments. Gérard Hourbette and -- surprisingly -- David Shea provide the most Art Zoyd-sounding moments. Atau Tanaka and Ryoji Ikeda are the two unknown variables ...
