Gil Shaham, violin Orli Shaham, piano
Recorded at the Palais Daun-Kinsky, Vienna, 17-19 December 2005
The brother and sister duo Gil & Orli Shaham perform a selection of violin sonatas by the Austrian master in the Palais Daun-Kinsky in Vienna. This recording is brimming with energy and fearlessness, tempered by a deep understanding of - and respect for - the music
Violinist Gil Shaham is internationally recognized by audiences and critics alike as one of today's most virtuosic and engaging classical artists. In 1998, he won a Grammy Award for his recital album American Scenes with Andre Previn at the piano. He is sought after throughout the world for concerto appearances with celebrated orchestras and conductors, as well as for recital and ensemble appearances on the great concert stages and at the most prestigious festivals
Pianist Orli Shaham has established an impressive international reputation as one of today's most gifted pianists. Recent seasons have included debuts with the Cleveland, Philadelphia, Saint Louis and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras
While Orli and Gil are less than five years apart in age, they suprisingly have not performed together in public as often as one would suspect. Apparently, their parents discouraged them from doing so, since Orli, as she explains, was "just ready to come out of the sandbox" when Gil was already having a big career. So, instead of tagging along with her big brother, Orli has become a renowned and respected concert pianist in her own right
Brand new recording - state-of-the-art quality

$31.69 One of Mozart's most acclaimed repertoire operas, DIE ENTFUHRUNG DEM SERAIL was written by the ingenious composer at right about the middle of his career. Here, German opera director Hans Neuenfels returns to the city of Stuttgart--where he directed his very first Mozart piece--to lead a stirring production of the opera. Starring Catherine Naglestad, Kate Ladner, Mattias Klink, and Heinz Gohring, this dramatic tale is as rich and emotional as ever.
Belmonte seeks his betrothed, Konstanze, who, with her maid Blonde, is held prisoner by the Pasha. Pedrillo, now forced to serve as the Pasha's gardener, tells him that the Pasha loves Konstanze, but will not force his attentions on her. Belmonte, with Pedrillo's ...

W. A. Mozart - Violin Sonatas DVD
$10.25 ILLEGAL TENDER opens in the Bronx in 1985, with slick drug dealer Wilson DeLeon (Manny Perez) looking for one more big score before settling down with his pregnant wife, Millie (Jessica Pimentel). But things go awry, and the gang led by Javier Cordero (Gary Perez) goes after Millie as well. Twenty-two years later, Millie (now played by Wanda De Jesus) is living in a wealthy suburban neighborhood with her older son, 4.0 college student Wilson Jr. (Rick Gonzalez), and younger son, the endearingly precocious Randy (Antonio Ortiz). When she spots a member of Javier's gang, she's out on the run again--but Wilson refuses to go, instead staying home with his girlfriend, Ana (Dania Ramirez), not willing to believe anyone is in any real danger. Although he doesn't want to get involved, Wilson is soon caught up in a gunfight, finding himself in the middle of a two-decade-old score that seemingly can be settled only with bloodshed. Written and directed by Franc. Reyes (EMPIRE) and produced by John Singleton (BOYZ N THE HOOD), ILLEGAL TENDER is a gripping drama about family, revenge, and honor. The outstanding cast is headed by De Jesus in a career-defining performance, with fine support from Gonzalez and Ramirez and comic ...
