On its second outing for the Militia Group label, the Canton, Ohio-based rock band Lovedrug offers up an accessible album that draws on both emo and 1990s post-grunge styles. Fronted by singer/guitarist Michael Shepard, who sometimes recalls a gloomier John Mayer, the group excels at dramatic mid-tempo numbers (see the melancholy tunes "Happy Apple Poison" and "Casino Clouds") that reveal their charms on repeated listens.
