Blues Groove songs
$13.45 This session recorded in 2003 features the music of Henry Mancini played by a Quintet led by Phil Woods on alto saxophone and Carl Saunders on trumpet and flugelhorn. Featuring over 75 minutes of music the CD reprises some of Henry Mancini's greatest jazz compositions including The Pink Panther, Mr. Lucky and tunes from the Peter Gunn TV series soundtrack recordings."Even more than nine years after his death, Henry Mancini is the most famous of all film composers. His film writing was jazz-oriented without being jazz, and his arrangements were both subservient to a movie's story (as all scores must be) and strong enough to stand on their own apart from the picture." "One of the all-time great alto-saxophonists and a major force in the jazz scene since at least 1954, Phil Woods is not only one of the masters of bebop but a musician who through the years has extended the idiom through his personal voice, inventive repertoire and inspired settings." "Carl Saunders is not as world famous yet due to his valuable but underrated work as a lead trumpeter in big bands and being based in Los Angeles. But his playing on his three solo albums and the Jazzed Media CD "Phil Urso and Carl Saunders Salute Chet Baker" show just how tremendous a trumpeter he is, ranking near the top of his field." "Listeners will have no difficulty having fun listening to the infectious performances on one of the finest jazz tributes to the music of Henry Mancini."Scott Yanow,Author of eight jazz books including Trumpet Kings, Jazz On Record 1917-76, Bebop, Swing and Afro-Cuban Jazz

Blues Groove CD music
$11.39 Chuck Ferrari was born in San Jose, California. He currently residence in Bend, Oregon. His songs are about his travels and experiences all across the Pacific Northwest and other parts of the world. Chuck is happy to present his first album 24. Below are the stories behind the Chuck and the songs of 24.Story of Chuck: Part IIt's quite a simple story, really. Some of you know me as Charles, C.J., Chaz, Chucky, J-Ball, J-Town, J, Chewy, Se Jota, Chucky-Baby, C-Jizzle, C, Hollywood, Ferrar, The Reverend, Chuck-D, Chucks and Stud Muffin (okay, I made up the last one.) Sadly enough, I probably forgot some names. Some are close but not quite Chuck. Chuck is a common nickname for someone named Charles. Before the onslaught of nicknames, I went by the my initials, C.J. Well, the educators at Oster Elementary in San Jose, CA thought I would never learn how to spell my name if I put C.J. at the top of my school assignments. What's a C.J.to do? In first grade you don't want to be called Charles? Charles was to proper, dorky, I couldn't go by Charles. So Chuck it was. So like a good little student I wrote Chuck at the top of all my papers. That's what I went by kindergarten through second grade. All the kids called me Chuck. But there's one, one kid who called me Chuck in a way that still leads to ridicule today. I don't remember her name, but everyday leaving class, right in front of whomever was picking me up, she would say, "Byeeeeeee Chuuuuuuck." The girl obviously had a crush on the Chuckster (hey, another one.) That prompted my parents and siblings to sing in a taunting fashion the Rikki Lee Jones song Chucky's in Love. By now you must be asking yourself what's the point of this message.Well, the point, or should I say theme, is a story. I like stories. I like hearing stories. I like telling stories.Below are the stories behind the Chuck Ferrari: 24. 24 GuinnessThis is a song of drunken lust. During the summer of 1998, a few buddies and I toured around Western Europe. We ended up in an Irish bar in Barcelona, Spain...go figure. One of the traveling mob was lusting after a tall, gorgeous, redheaded bartender. After a few Guinness he asked her, “What will it take for you to go home with me tonight?” Her response, “Drink 24 Guinness.”SugarFamily and friends have been camping in the Sierra Nevada's for years. One place we frequent after a long day of fishing is a bar in Kennedy Meadows. One night while my cousin and I were supporting the local economy, my cousin was approached by one hell of a mountain woman. She said, “You’re too cute not to be dancing sugar!” After reluctantly agreeing to dance, he was manhandled on the dance floor. All AloneI was in my room playing a lick over and over trying to think of some lyrics. My roommate at the time walked into mine and gave me lyrics to this tune. He wrote them in a matter of minutes, reflecting on a defunct relationship.SunshineThis might be the first song I ever wrote. I was feeling down because of rejection by a distant flame who used to refer to me as “Sunshine.”Hilton on the HillOne summer I lived in a single-wide trailer in Lakeview, ...
