FLAMENCO and METAL unite to form the unholy. A new sound, and a fresh take on live performance, Flametal explodes with fiercly original and technical artistry. Live performances includes a full, shredding metal band, with lyrics in spanish and english, professional and sexy flamenco dancers in original choreography, with flamenco guitar at the helm. Flametal strives to deliver a fusion of 50% flamenco, and 50% metal, and does not claim to be either. Guitars, dance/palmas and tradtional rhythmical forms of flamenco. Put this into a real metal environment: loud, evil, and technical, ---FLAMETAL---Benjamin Woods-------Flamenco Guitar, vocals, palmasUriah Duffy-----------BassBrian T. Elder album
$19.89 Of the "big four" original thrash bands (the other three being Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth), Slayer was the least compromising and most consistent. As such, 2009's WORLD PAINTED BLOOD recalled more than the title of Slayer's 1986 masterpiece REIGN IN BLOOD; it shared the earlier album's ferocious aggression and trademark speed metal-meets-hardcore sound. Throughout, the sound is lean and mean, with bassist/vocalist Tom Araya's vocals mixed relatively dry and upfront, giving the album a bracing, ...
| | Stryper Murder By Pride CD (2009)
Elder CD music
$10.65 After the original Stryper lineup (minus bassist Tim Gaines) reunited for 2005's somewhat alternative/nu-metal tinged REBORN, the band made a stylistic return to form with MURDER BY PRIDE. Brimming with harmonized twin guitar leads, big hair metal-approved shout-along hooks, and Michael Sweet's trademark soaring, Dennis DeYoung-esque vocals, the album rivals the best of Styper's `80s output, ...
| | Atreyu Congregation Of The Damned CD (2009)
Elder music CDs
$11.65 On their latest effort, Atreyu come with more of the same metalcore that listeners have come to expect from the band. All of the familiar elements are in place, with the alternating screaming/soaring vocals, thundering double bass drumming, and big, crunchy riffage. The difference here is that the band seems to have mellowed out a bit, opting for a more melodic approach. Like their last album, the songs here feel somewhat restrained, like they're just dying to break free of the polished production. The intensity of SUICIDE NOTES and BUTTERFLY KISSES seems to have been put out to pasture, with the songs feeling more deliberately poppy.

| | King Diamond Voodoo CD (1998) Reissue; Remastered
Elder album
$11.18 On King Diamond's eighth concept album, the prolific horror rocker hasn't entirely run out of ideas, although the material on Voodoo is generally predictable. Set in New Orleans, the story line is loaded with more witchcraft, haunted houses, and ghosts. The music stays true to form as well; Diamond's cartoonishly ghastly vocals haven't lost any of their bite, long running sideman Andy LaRocque maintains his own high level of proficiency ...

| | Delbert McClinton Subject To Change CD (1973)
Elder music CDs
$9.99 Delbert McClinton and Glen Clark's second and final album as a duo wasn't much different in tone than their first, Delbert & Glen. It was relaxed Texas roots rock, though perhaps less blues-inclined (and more countrified) than its predecessor, and making more use of horns in the arrangements. It might be a little less-known than the other McClinton-Clark LP, as it didn't have as many songs that were covered by other high-profile artists (or later redone by McClinton), although Dr. Hook did pick up on the McClinton composition "Let Me Be Your Lover." More pleasantly drifting than striking, it had a little more wit than the average material by such bands on songs like "If You Don't Leave Me Alone (I'm Gonna Find Somebody Who Will)" and "California Livin'." Some of the more satisfying cuts, however, ...

| | Knoxville Jazz Orchestra Blues Man From Memphis: More From The Musical Mind Of Donald Brown CD (2007)
Elder songs
$12.05 Vance Thompson is the leader and chief arranger of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, a conventional but high-quality big band. On Blues Man from Memphis, the orchestra performs eight compositions by pianist Donald Brown, who not only plays piano and electric piano but arranged "The Scenic Route to Donny's Heart." His music is advanced hard bop that swings but is not overly predictable, covering many moods. In addition to Brown, the guest soloists on various selections include Greg Tardy on soprano and tenor, Stefon Harris (who is very impressive during his four appearances) and bassist John Clayton. From the orchestra itself, tenor saxophonist Bill Scarlett, altoist Mark Tucker, guitarist Mark Boling and trumpeter Thomas Heflin have their spots while Bill Mobley contributes two arrangements. Listeners who enjoy modern big bands will find much to savor during these flawless performances. And it is particularly ...
