| | J Band Africas And Ithacas CD J Band Discography of CDs
The J Band, a revolution of rhythm and melody, is stirring souls and setting feet to dancing throughout all corners of the world, continuing what they began many years ago. It was in Davis, California where Jordan Lindsey and Amit Katzir crossed paths, each with a guitar and Jordan with a fresh set of songs. They quickly connected and thus their course was set out before them, ferociously playing wherever the spirit lead them. "It was like we had been playing together for years. Amit was the skilled master and I was the raw storm and together the music took life. It still amazes me."As the crowds grew so did the merry men on stage. First came Alan Lightner, the drummer/percussionist/steel drummer/singer with infectious passion. Next was Greg Magnuson, who sailed right in with bass and harmonies and a force on stage. Then there was d.j. Paul Ryan, who lifted everything to a wild rhythm and constant dance. "People would hear acoustic guitars with a dance beat and steel drums and they would be baffled, but sure enough they'd soon be dancing. Then the next time we would see them they’d be singing the songs back to us and dancing with us and it soon became so much more than a crowd and a band, it’s a communion. It’s explosive."After the success of their debut album, “The Africas and Ithacas”, released in 2003, The J Band set off to gather their inspiration for the next round. Amit wandered the world for a year; Jordan returned to his roots of playing music in church; and each and all brought a piece of themselves and threw it in the mix for an ambitious new collection of songs…… “Wayward”."This is something I believe in. Every word, every note that’s played, I believe has purpose. It’s something that has to be shared between us and those who get it, our fans, who are truly our extended family." Africas And Ithacas album
$9.58 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. Plus, a large part of Boyle's appeal is that she's a middle-aged woman recalling a bygone era when there were singers that appealed to an adult audience by offering soft, stately versions of pop hits and standards. That time was the late `60s and early `70s, and apart from a rather faithful version of Madonna's "You'll See," I Dreamed a Dream could very well have been released all those years ago, as it mixes up the show tunes, gospel, and Christmas carols with covers of Skeeter Davis' "The End of the World," the Rolling ...

| | Remember Rome La Bocca Della Verita CD (2001)
Africas And Ithacas music CDs
$15.85 Remember Rome:"Shadows fall on fallen stones that once held up the sky... Being there I felt at home, they've fallen, so have I..." So begins the song "Forevertown," by Remember Rome, a progressive acoustic, Spirit-filled ensemble traveling the familiar path from Rome to Chicago, and back again. Like much of Remember Rome's music, the song "Forevertown" pays tribute to the Eternal City, its history, and its people. Together since 1995, the members of the band have played their music all over the world, coming together and bringing their collective experiences to the songs. They chose the name "Remember Rome" as a way to keep alive the spirit of the Empire that spawned western civilization, and the city that is, for these guys at least, the center of the world. The highlight of 1999 was traveling together to Rome itself to perform their music in the city that inspired it. The music is called "progressive acoustic." The acoustic guitar is central, at times sounding like a percussion instrument, a kind of snare drum wanna-be; and at other times sparkling like the pull tab from an old aluminum can at the bottom of a clear mountain stream. Add to that creative vocal harmonies, a virtuoso violin, a rock-solid bass, and an everything-but-the kitchen-sink percussion octopus, and you have something that's more than the sum of the parts. The unique acoustic sound is the kind of music you listen to when you want to feel connected to the cause and effect of human history; when you want ...
