Lord, let my next child be a pianist." This was the prayer of Patti's mother Frieda. A few years later, at the age of four, this diminutive little girl, from the plains of Eastern Oklahoma, climbed upon the piano bench, stretched her little fingers over the keys and began to make music. At the age of 12, Patti was playing with symphony orchestras and a few years later received a scholarship to study piano privately with Edwin Hughes, famed professor of music at Juilliard. From there, she went to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music with dreams of becoming a full blown concert pianist, but one night another concert was in town, featuring famed jazz pianist Oscar Peterson. Patti was in the audience. She never looked back . The next year, the southside of Chicago was her new turf where she learned to play be- bop at the feet of the world's greatest musicians. Patti's Recordings include: "Porgy and Bess" w/Duke Ellington and Mel Torme. "The Pat Moran Quartet" (While at Birdland) "This is Pat Moran" w/ virtuoso bassist Scott La Faro. But the fast moving world of jazz soon took it's toll and Patti dropped out of the music scene, moved to Oregon, where she found the Lord and with her husband Michael, raised 5 wonderful children. Now, Patti has an exciting new venue. Her latest CD, "Jesus in Paris" encompasses the beauty of jazz, classical and gospel piano styles. Most of the songs were written by Patti and she's accompanied by some of America's most gifted musicians and gospel singers. For those of you who prefer piano straight, Patti also has a new piano solo cd entitled, "The Gospel Truth." We know that those of you who love great music will enjoy these highly inventive cd's.HISTORY Jesus In Paris Music | Category | Jazz Albums | | Label | Brio | | Orig Year | 2001 | | CD Universe Part number | 7126174 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Sep 13, 2003 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 47 minutes |

Jesus In Paris music CDs
$11.39 Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, saxophonist Ben Schachter is a superb modern jazz improviser who possesses strong compositional attributes. He's performed/recorded with artists such as trumpeter Tim Hagans and guitarist Jef Lee Johnson. Yet, the Trio of Many outfit signifies his ongoing musical relationship with drummer Erik Johnson and bassist Micah Jones. This 2002 effort features the trio in fine form, as Schachter's meaty tenor sax sound provides the blustery edge. The musicians mix it up rather nicely, amid a hodgepodge of turbulent swing vamps and lyrically charged thematic forays. Schachter is a smooth operator who occasionally picks up the soprano sax. But the musicians' synergy is founded upon their ability to incorporate a variegated menu, consisting of blitzing crescendos, bluesy intonations, sparkling jazz waltz grooves, and more. They explore a myriad of rhythmic structures. Part of the beauty lies within the artists' communal spirit, topped off by the leader's penchant for fusing memorable licks with ferocious ...
| | Jacob Smolowe Level With Me CD (2005)
Jesus In Paris songs
$13.69 ***Visit http:// jakesmolowe /biography.html to learn more about Jake Smolowe and his musical endeavors. ***Level With Me marks my first foray into solo acoustic piano recording, as well as a first test of my skills as an audio engineer. I recorded the entire album at home on my family's Ibach piano, using a single Rode Stereo NT4 microphone, a DigiDesign DIGI002 audio interface, and ProTools LE running on a Powerbook G4. For post-production, I sent the album to a professional mastering engineer, preferring to learn mastering techniques for a later project. While some of the compositions on Level With Me come from my old performance repertoire, the album in many ways represents new ground for me. Rarely have I recorded my improvisations in the past, though they continue to drive my advancement as a composer and as a collaborative musician; this album includes four improvisational tracks. Moreover, in earlier stages of my compositional development, I most often wrote music that carried little or no meaning beyond its artistic value; on this album, each song conveys a unique emotional and personal context."lost visions" reflects a recurring scenario for me, sometimes in dreams, in which I imagine in an instant that I see someone I've loved and lost, and then the next time I look the person has vanished. The anguish that I feel during such moments manifests itself in the plethora of dissonances scattered throughout the improvisation, and in the abrupt, untimely ending."Wish You Were Here..." most specifically applies to my first romantic relationship, on which prolonged separation steadily took its toll. On a different, more general level, it applies to a sense of longing I feel periodically for those friends and relatives of mine who have passed away over the years."They Won't Know What Hit 'Em" and "The Next Step" share almost identical back stories. They concern parallel stages in my growth as a musician, and also my desire to spread my love of jazz to everyone I know. I composed and performed the two pieces at the midpoints of my high school and college careers, respectively, as the first jazz entries ever accepted into traditionally classical performance art showcases."verging" represents my life when it starts to feel chaotic and out of control. I begin to feel that I'm standing at the edge of something dangerous, and I have to rely on my friends, my family and my music to prevent me from slipping."stars and mirrors" ...
