| | Professor Lift Band Another Ring On The Tree CD Professor Lift Band Discography of CDs
Professor Lift advances a new, groundbreaking theory in the science of Groovology!Into a Jam-Rock beaker, he places carefully measured parts of Swing-Bop Jazz rhythms with a dash of soulful and insightful poetic concepts and then mixes in some soaring saxophone samplings and fusion driven 6-string angst. He then grounds the mixture by folding in some ancient global melody artifacts and some "I don't care what you call it" modern attitude. If "alternative" is a definable style, then this must be the other alternative. The bandleader and primary composer is Rob Probst, former mandolin player for Hypnotic Clambake. Rob's lyrics have messages that are born out of his observations of the troubled human condition, but his positive take, upbeat grooves and imaginative wordplay afford a "lifted" experience.Another Ring On The Tree offers a sampling of many musical styles in the mix, even some Bohemian scat over a hip-hop funk. "Thrace Lift" is a fiery jazz instrumental inspired by a traditional wedding dance in 7/8 time from the Thrace region of Bulgaria, known in the Balkans as "Svatbarska Rachenitsa". Soulful ballads are transformed by unique rhythmic approaches. Another Ring On The Tree Music Professor Lift Band Another Ring On The Tree Songs | 1. | Fallen Man |

| | Roger Cairns Scot In L.A. CD (2006)
Another Ring On The Tree CD music
$9.85 Roger Cairns started singing at a very early age andhasn’t stopped since. He sang at his aunt’s weddingwhen he was three years old. He sang in the churchchoir. Every year, he sang at the local residentsassociation Christmas party. He sang at school and was12 when he was awarded the Robert Burns Prize forexcellence in the singing of Scottish songs. That’swhat Roger knew, that’s what he loved, and that’s whathe decided he was going to do when he turned 9: he wasgoing to become a singer. Flash forward 50 years and Roger is in Los Angeles,California, singing with a 20-piece jazz orchestra. His musical path out of the Scottish projects wascircuitous, to say the least; it took him from crawling over English rooftops installing television antennas to delivering refreshments to the Beatles; from taking helicopter trips to North Sea oilrigs to organizing outdoor stunt spectaculars in Saudi Arabia; from impromptu visits bythe KGB to the birth of his three children. And yet, though life frequently got in the way and Roger had toput his musical career on hold several times over theyears, never did any of his experiences feed his soulthe way music did and nothing ever replaced his loveof singing.Roger was born in the small coal mining village ofGilmerton, a suburb of Edinburgh, in 1946. Notsurprisingly, Roger’s talent and his penchant formusic were neither nurtured nor welcomed by his familyin a post-war Britain more concerned with survivalthan entertainment. So when he was 15 years old, Rogerwas sent off to complete a five-year miningengineering apprenticeship with the National CoalBoard. But eighteen months later, tired of being underground,Roger emerged from the bowels of the Scottish minesand headed for London to pursue his dream. He was 17.Within a couple of years, Roger found himself touringGermany with London-based Rare Amber and releasing ablues album on the Polydor label. Then came RubberDuck, a nine-piece jazz-rock ensemble which caught theear of Bee Gees manager Dick Ashby and earned Rogerbackstage congratulations from Jimi Hendrix. The group Listen, led by Essex-based composer PaulAbrahams, followed, and won a national rock contest in1972. With Listen, Roger sang on BBC TV’s flagship OldGrey Whistle Test, performed live on Britain’s chiefradio station, Radio One, and landed on the front pageof the then best-selling music paper, Melody Maker.Listen ...
