Ski masks, the F-word, and three-piece suits; it's clear that The Browns walk the scarier side of the street. Even if you didn't notice their love for B-movie horror tradition, their comic-book menace is apparent from their Browns crime-family entourage and their pseudo-pretentious debut album title Greatest Hits Volume One. Why all the horrific high jinks? Because being scared, and being scary, is fun.Sonicly, the Browns are most often compared to a mixture of the swinging "ooohs & aaaahs" of The Misfits, the ferocious rock of The New Bomb Turks, and the naivety of early-era Descendents. Masters of three-chord mayhem, the group purveys fear and fun through "a caustic stage presence that would inspire the most brutal heckler to run out the door with tail between his or her legs" (A. McInnis; FFWD Magazine). Their penchant for playful danger has found The Browns in impromptu wrestling matches with television hosts on live air, in the hospital with broken ribs after a series of rowdy Wisconsin showcases, and in the hearts of a growing audience. After the location of their secret hideout in Canada was discovered in 2000, frontman Charlie Brown fled to Wisconsin to lay low while the heat died down. Forming a new gang of Browns in secrecy, he appeared on the scene and rethrust The Browns into the spotlight. First to fall victim was the videogame industry after The Browns' homage to their former hideout American Werewolf in Calgary was featured in Tony Hawk's Underground. Hot on the heels of the multi-million selling game release is a re-release of their debut album, production of a new record, and a central North American tour. This, my friends, is Brownsmania and it is dangerous. And Now The Screaming Starts songs
$6.39 This premiere release from KillaCozzy Productions showcases the talents of Elect and Cozzy in an effort to raise money for their solo debuts. Philosorappers features live radio performances, remixed versions of songs from Passing Through and The Tower, as well as a few singles written exclusively for this "demo". It definitely gives listeners a taste of what Elect and Cozzy can do and certainly serves the purpose of whetting appetites for their upcoming solo albums . . .Review by JPeezy from www.jackin4beats.com*****1. Early Mornings (Elect): Definitely a rasta joint. It took me a while to like this song. At first I wasn't a fan of it, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Overall the flow is nice and the lyrics are on point. Some cats won't like this track cuz its different, but I'm feelin it. :: 3.5/5 2. Trippin (Cozzy): THis is on some other shit. Def an outspace type feel. The beat on this one is pretty ill, and Coz has a nice flow on it. The whole 'tentacles in the air' shit is nice haha. This is one of the more likable tracks on the album (for me), but I can't listen to it all the time. Still a good joint though. :: 3/5 3. Baldhead With Dreadlock (Elect): Another track with a rasta feel. At first I didnt care for hte beat (i think it was the annoying flute in the background). The more I listened to it I got into it more. Elect's got a hot flow on this one. Overall not a bad track. The hook on this one is pretty solid too. :: 2.5/5 4. Monsters (Cozzy, Elect): Ill track. The beat is bananas. I would have liked it more if it wasn't a live version. Shit is ill though. The message is strong in this one, you can tell from the delivery. Elect has kick some shit in this one. Pretty good track. :: 3/5 5. B There Long Remix (Elect): Beat has a total West Coastish flavor to it. I was waitin for Daz to get on there and yell out DPG. haha Its a cool track though. One of the only things that felt out of place to me was the flow of the chorus. This is probably one of my fave tracks on the CD. Had me noddin my head on this one. :: 3.5/5 6. The Obligatory Name Song (Cozzy): Lol The beginning was funny shit. "Angry Face". Some good wordplay in this one. The beat took some getting used to, but its aiight. Not one of the best beats on the album, but Coz did his thing on this one. I wasn't a huge fan of the hook. It was a lil different, but it wasn't really my kinda thing. :: 2.5/5 7. Emptiness (Cozzy, Elect): I peeped this on the website. Elect's got a good verse on this one. The hook leaves more to be desired for. The beat is again different, but by this point in the album, you'd noticed that ALL the beats are abnormal...but thats not a bad thing. This is a catchy joint. The more i listen to it, i bet the more I'd like it. :: 2.5/5 8. Thunder & Lightning (Elect): This is my joint. Prob my fave track on the disc. Beat is bananas. Flow: Ill. I chose this one for the J4B mix CD (its on its way, calm down haha). This shit slams if u got a system in your ride. Hook is cool too. Overall Ill track. :: 4.5/5 9. Breakdown Remix (Cozzy): Nice beat. I like the 'Breakdown' sample in the hook... I think it makes the hook a lot better. I like Coz's delivery on this one, more so than some of the rest. This is a good track. Not one of the best, but also not one of the worst. Its definitely worth a listen too. :: 3/5 10. Steppin Stones (Cozzy, Elect): The beat is kinda laid back on this one. The hook is coo...nothing stand out, doesnt suck...but it fits the song good. Both got an Ill flow on this song. I like the back and forth they had towards the end....good stuff. :: 3/5 11. ...
