| | Kineto Transform CD Kineto Discography of CDs
Kineto brings together the individual ideas of four musicians to create a dark and unpredictable sound with obscure, thought provoking lyrics. It includes Rick Audet, who delivers the inventive noise guitar and precision fretwork; drummer Noah Appleton, providing the foundation with his technical yet tasteful rhythms, and Forest Huggins, who cleverly expresses his eclectic weirdness on the vocal mic. Rounding out the band is founding member Dan Menapace, who blends trippy, intense bass lines with modern samplers, which adds the definitive color to the Kineto palette. Transform album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For Your Entertainment -- which isn't quite the same thing as camp, for if Adam Lambert is anything, he's earnest about his dress-up, never winking at the audience because he doesn't think there's much funny about his glitter and mascara: that's just what pop stars are supposed to do. He's learned that by listening to his stacks of Queen and Bowie records, from watching old MTV videos on YouTube, from living in a present that always competes with the ever-present past, so he takes it all at face value, mixing ...

| | Spoils Of War II CD (2005)
Transform album
$13.35 A catchall follow-up album to the band's self-titled debut, The Spoils of War II has had a couple of incarnations over the years, most recently as a CD on the Shadoks label, which also reissued the first album. In any form, it's more of a murky curio than anything else, though those inclined to the band's way around sassy late-'60s pop occasionally spiked with odd freakouts and cut-ups will enjoy it well enough. The liner notes are lacking outside of general observations from bandleader Jim Cuomo and a note that the final songs are from a concert, but the personnel breakdown indicates that the compositions were recorded by many differing versions of the group, Cuomo being the sole constant. Cuomo's own vocals are slightly strained affairs but when restrained in the arrangements, as with "In Again Out Again" (at least in the chorus) it's not so bad. (Admittedly, the bit where he suddenly sings "You should pull your mother" in "Missed Opportunity" is great intentional comedy, especially with the slightly goony ...
| | Michael Drange I Understand CD (1999)
Transform CD music
$9.59 Michael Drange grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he began playing the piano at the tender age of five. Five years later he picked up the saxophone, and soon after, started playing in his first rock band. Those early years playing the music of Billy Joel, Elton John and the Doobie Brothers gave Michael his roots in pop/rock. Now as a singer/songwriter, Michael fuses those early influences with elements of soul, country and jazz to create a singular style.Michael keeps busy writing songs, composing and performing in Southern California. He has been performing for almost 20 years at Southern California coffee-houses, parties, restaurants and night clubs. He performs as a solo artist, in jazz duo and trio settings, and with the party band Crossroads. He has also performed at nationally sponsored events such as "Budweiser's War On The Water."In 1992, Michael released his self produced, ten-song debut album "On The Other Side" on the Dibo Record label. While continuing to perform, Michael composed two scores ("Can You Keep A Secret" and "Knuckle Sandwich") for ...

| | Flutterbies Featuring Maureen Davis CD (2009)
Transform music CDs
$10.15 The Flutterbies are Los Angeles’ hottest alt-country upstarts. Fierce and fashionable, lead singer Maureen Davis fronts the band with a dusty, honey smothered voice that “…oozes sass and soul…” (Music Connection, April 2009). Equal parts romance and riot, Maureen and The Flutterbies (pronounced the “flutter-byes”) seduce with pop sweetness and satisfy with bluesy grit. The group’s debut EP The Flutterbies featuring Maureen Davis was produced by slide guitarist Bart Ryan, engineered by Grammy winner Seth Atkins Horan, and co-written with Powerpop luminary Adam Daniel. The recording also showcases the talents of drummer Christopher Allis, bassist Steve Whalen, keyboardist Jamieson Trotter, and backup vocalist Molly Pasutti.Since its release in March 2009, the single “Hummingbird Heart” has been featured in-auditorium before screenings at Laemmle and Angelika theatres nationwide and has also become the theme for GetToKnowUsFirst.org, a campaign to reverse California’s Proposition 8. In April ...
