The list goes on, from national to international major tours. Tony's first acoustic/vocal release "On Coming Train" sold modestly and was well received on major radio. I sat down with Tony, one of the most humble individuals I have met and discussed tours, tattoos, debauchery, and his new album. CJ: Thanks for taking your time to talk with me.TG: My pleasure.CJ: Who are your influences, and what kind of music inspires you?TG: Good question, depends on what kind of mood I'm in, I listen to everything from Guns N' Roses to Mandy Moore. I love all types of music so it's really to hard to pin point.CJ: Where did the inspiration come from to write your new CD?TG: Mostly Just all the shit that seems to happen in my life and from past relationships.CJ: I love your voice, how long have you been singing for, and what made you decide to do vocal albums?TG: Thanks, I have been singing for a few years, but never thought I was that good at it until a friend of mine said I should seriously think about singing on my own CD's, and I also figure that there is only so much I can say with instrumental guitar, so now I can express my self and say what I want through my voice.CJ: Where was the CD recorded and what kind of gear did you use?TG: I actually recorded it at my studio, I kept it completely raw by using a Korg D-16 with very little over-dubs and I used the built in effects processor from the Korg and a AKG C-1000 Mic for vocals. I also used live percussion and congas that my Drummer did all first takes, as well as a drum machine and Yamaha sequencer for other instruments.CJ: What is your opinion on the music industry today and where do you think it's going?TG: You had to ask that one. I think there is a lot of bullshit in the industry, and I guess their always has been, but now you have kids downloading from the internet, record companies are taking huge losses, as well as the artists, but it also has to do with all the crap that's out there as far as bands and shit that people don't want to listen to. They say that 85 percent of all major label releases don't recoup their recording costs, well maybe A&R people should take their heads out of their asses, get rid of their egos and sign real musicians, singers/songwriters and bands. They used to develop artists but now all they care about is the money. If your first record doesn't sell gold, See Ya! CJ: So in your opinion, who do you think is happening right now?TG: I think Michelle Branch rocks, she's a killer songwriter, and I think The White Stripes Suck!CJ: What don't you like about them?TG: Two talent less fucks that probably had to suck allot of dick to get their deal. I just don't understand them.CJ: What are your most memorable times on the road, good and bad?TG: I love being on the road, and their were so many good times I've had, but the bad times were when I got arrested and spent two days in jail and I missed a couple of shows, stupid shit like that.CJ: What Happened?TG: I had a tendency to attract a lot of trouble, mostly because I used to drink so damn much and my guitar tech would dare me to do stupid shit and he knew I would do it because I was always so fu Read Between The Lines Music | Category | Rock/Pop Albums, Rock CDs | | Label | MCM | | Orig Year | 2003 | | CD Universe Part number | 7127776 | | Catalog number | 84851 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Sep 02, 2003 | | Studio/Live | Studio | | Mono/Stereo | Stereo | | Recording Time | 41 minutes |
