Audio Pilot by Matt Weaver© Eastern Star Musicwww.newsunstudio.comAfter a successful release of "What Is Real" in Spring of 2004, Matt held back enough "A" cuts to release his second CD "Audio Pilot" in the Summer of 2004. Audio Pilot features strong rhythmic guitar, drums, bass, and synthesizer layered with free flowing melodic riffs. Again Matt's political tongue lashes out on "Drafted" with lines such as, " I wonder if we're gonna get drafted, after the election they'll begin to talk about it. Killin' for Peace just don't make sense, raisin your young to become the past tense."Audio Pilot advances on Matt's theme of blending his roots as a power rock player with his admiration of the many "world / new age" styles now gracing the air waves. The title cut "Audio Pilot" has a feel of universal flight, a take off and landing, a sense of an audio pilot traveling across the universe on audio waves - touching it all. While the likes of "Anxious Citizen" begin to venture into a feeling of "space funk". You'll find an eclectic mix in between. Matt has tried to convey an exciting energy that is still prevalent throughout his generation while blending a more sophisticated element woven across the compositions. " Audio Pilot is the name of my group as well, we're hopeful for a tour to present the music found on both CD's sometime in 2005. I find that working with many different types of musicians - there's an ever changing interpretation of the music. Music vibrates the Universe - the Universe is ever changing." More info about the artist can be found on the "What Is Real" CDReview from the "Good Times Magazine"MATT WEAVERA Notion To Play * What Is Real * Audio Pilotwww.newsunstudio.comThe owner and operator of New Sun Studio, located in Steuben, Maine, is a unique musician in his own right. These three solo CD's - all currently available through the studio's website, newsunstudio.com - display the gamut of Matt Weaver's varied stylistic influences. The veteran artist pulls of a rare feat by proving he's a master of jazz, pop, rock, and even protest music.Bringing home that last point is "Drafted", a sincere protest song in the tradition of the great 60's tunes such as "For What It's Worth". Located in the center of the Audio Pilot album, the strong, potent lyrics of this antiwar tune come at exactly the right time in our troubled nation's history. Most of the songs on the three discs are instrumentals, but in this instance Weaver steps to the mic to deliver a searing plea for peace. He's not a superb singer, but the sentiment carries the song, which could become a classic if afforded enough radio airplay. The protest song is just one facet of Weaver's talents, as these discs contain several moody and lifting instrumentals all featuring Weaver's multi-instrumental skills - he performs on guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards on all tracks, serving as a virtual one-man band. "After Hours" from Audio Pilot is a funky, groove-oriented exploration; "Abyss" from A Notion To Play would fit neatly onto jazz playlists. Perhaps the finest track is "Punch Me" from What Is Real, which is a lilting instrumental that manages to use synthesizer melody lines in a fresh, new way.Weaver, a self-styled musical iconoclast, is well worth the time for mature listeners. This isn't silly kid stuff - it's varied, jazzy, moody instrumental music for listeners with actual gray matter.Syl NathanGood Times MagazineMay Issue 2005 page! Audio Pilot CD music
$11.39 Cafe Improv TV30 (Broadcast from the Arts Council Of Princeton) 2002:"John Padovano Exquisite jazz voicings on his guitar and subtle, sophisticated vocals make John our keynote act of the evening. Last appearing at the Improv in September of 2001, John is a favorite of both our in-house and television audiences."~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Padovano performs solo year round along the Jersey shore (USA) at coffeehouses and cafes. He was born in Newark, New Jersey (USA) and then moved to the shore area where he recorded and released six independent albums. "innocent waters" was recorded live in studio with no overdubs.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Comments about "innocent waters" and previous releases TDRS(the Dusty Road Session):Tommy Dean DJ at WERU, 102.9, Maine: ". . .A great sound. . .A very well done CD."Ann Aljian, USA:It's not just the one song I liked - the WHOLE THING - as usual, goes right to my heart! It swings, it lilts, it's...trueness itself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Taken from the review of "Innocent Waters" by Dai Woosnam (UNITED KINGDOM),freefolkMarch/April 2002: " His work is new to me... He works out of Fair Haven, New Jersey. I sat back to listen. And the initial reaction is good. He has a tunefulvoice. . . On some tracks he has a percussion backing. But that is it.No studio gimmicks. I tried to get a handle on it. He was reminiscent of SOMEONE, but I could not think just WHO exactly. At first I thought of another guy from New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen. But although therewere touches of "the Boss", the link was elsewhere. I quickly moved from Loudon Wainwright III, to the early Dylan (both his guitar and harmonica were too good to be Mr. Zimmerman's), and then I hit upon it. OF COURSE:. . . The Incredible String Band! Indeed his voice is a curious amalgam ofRobin Williamson's and Mike Heron's, and the song lyrics have that same ability to run the gamut when it comes to subject matter. . . ~~~~~~~~~~The Dusty Road Session: ITALY, Giovanni Pietro Scazzola, ...

| | Slipping Mickeys Highly Toxic...Yet Tasty! CD (2004)
Audio Pilot songs
$11.39 I recently released a solo album and rather than using my own name (as most normal people do), I thought that I would have some fun and come up with something a little more creative. This will allow me the freedom in the future to release another album under a different name and not having to be tied down to one specific style of music. Now that's thinking ahead! People often ask me where did I come up with the name SLIPPING MICKEYS. Well, one night I was watching an episode of SEINFELD, and George was at a party trying to slip his boss a mickey. It's a very funny episode and one of my favorites (now on dvd - season 2 episode no.12 "The Revenge"). So, I took the ole saying "slip a mickey" and changed it to simply "slipping mickeys". I thought it seemed to go well with the title I had already decided to use from my poem "Highly Toxic...Yet Tasty". Something in my weird sense of humor found this funny, so I went with it. Thus, SLIPPING MICKEYS was born. But instead of sneaking powdery substances into drinks behind peoples backs, I am "slipping songs" right out of the speakers and into their souls. Music can control the human body, much like a drug or a tasty drink. It can change your mood from one song to the next. All of the songs on the cd originally contained lyrics. But, as I went through the whole recording process, I decided to cut out the lyrics and make it pretty much an instrumental album. I feel that sometimes words can get in the way. Somethings are better left unsaid. When most people hear a song ...
| | Telenovela Broken Heart Is New CD (2005)
Audio Pilot album
$12.65 Not quite distorted or angular enough to compare to Gang of Four, and not quite abstract enough to compare to Wire, The Broken Heart is New sounds something like a laid-back, cleaned-up distant relative of the two. The playing is simple and the vocals are gloriously plaintive.... this, of course, is why Telenovela's interpretation of this set of musical ...
| | Preakness Class Act In A Bad Situation CD (2009)
Audio Pilot CD music
$9.75 Despite the fact that the band shares its name with a 134-year-old horse race, The Preakness can trace its genesis to the 21st century technology of Myspace. Guitarist Brandon Arnold began posting homemade four-track recordings on the ubiquitous portal in 2005, eventually catching the attention of bassist Tracy Clark, who felt that her sense of harmony would be the perfect foil for Arnold’s subtle pop melodies. The band finally came to fruition in early 2006 in Atlanta, when Arnold (ex-Licentious 5) and drummer Tim Genius (ex-Bon Vivants) were winding down from other projects. Arnold re-connected with Clark, who was already playing in Silent Kids and the Blue Hour, and The Preakness was born. The potential of Arnold’s early demos, and what Clark saw in them, became apparent right away, as lo-fi four-track charm gave way to explosive jangly pop, reminiscent of 80’s and 90’s college radio staples like Let’s Active, Sebadoh, Superchunk, and Yo La Tengo.Playing its first live show in April 2006, The Preakness became an instant attraction in Atlanta. The band would go on to play such festivals as Corndog-o-rama, The Other Sound Festival, and the Paste Rock and Reel Festival later ...
