As far back as I can remember there was always music in my life. My Father was a professional bass player. I was raised with lots of different music in the house. I guess that is why my music has vast variety of influence. I started playing drums between the ages of 2 and 3. It was in High school when I started writing music and playing other instruments because I was blown away by Prince after seeing Purple Rain . I noticed that at that moment I wanted to reach out to a different direction. That led me to playing everything on my demos. That led me to Tenacity mix an album I played everything on because of my training. I always had a love for music so much that it felt like an extension of my body. I am into using a variety of chords and writing about things in my life that I know. These things are just a glimpse of me. To know more about me check out the album. Tenacity Mix music CDs
$17.75 Katrina (the Kat) A Dedication and ReflectionI grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and as an aspiring young saxophonist in the mid-fifties was privy to play with a Rhythm and Blues group based in Gulfport, Mississippi.Hurricanes were never far from our minds, but were not central to the lives of everyday existence. However, this is a new generation, and a new hefty way of looking at our environment. So it was not surprising to me that our government agencies at all levels reacted the way they did to victims of Katrina. I share a deep sense of sadness and remorse for many of my relatives and friends of the Gulf Coast of the United States of America.Katrina the compositionâI wanted to write a composition that I could relate to that would help me deal with the great sadness I hold within as I cope with the personal loss I experienced; the calm before the storm. I use to stand on fishing peers back in Gulfport and watch the calmness of the Gulf looking out as far as I could see. I sometimes cringe now even thinking of the past experiences. The introduction depicts some quiet little village of an island some where out in the Atlantic Ocean. Somewhere out there Hurricane Katrina started its journey that ended as it came ashore in New Orleans, all though its destruction did not end there. The main theme introduced by the saxophone and the guitar permeates the entire composition. The theme, with its exotic flavor, is a mixture derived from the many cultures as the storm roams its way forward. The drum pattern is not used to confuse the listener, but to hold the composition together, as a reminder that we need to hold to each other. Itâs also used to show that Katrina is on the move, and affects are used to show clam and raging water of the Atlantic Ocean.Testimonies of Katrina VictimsâI wake up calling âKatrina, Katrina, Iâm calling you to repent before you go down to hell.ââ-Aunt RossâKatrina, Katrina, youâre bad to me.â-Aunt BennyâYou ainât no good you devil, your soul should stink in hell for you alone to smell.â-Uncle JakeâKatrina donât have no soul, just a wicked will to do harm to the young and the old.â-Uncle Sonny BoyCome To Me â a rock ballad with a simple bounce feel that adds sweetness to this CD and is also used to set up the following selections. It was strongly suggested by a friend that I place Come To Me first on the CD and when I inquired as to why, he simply replied he had a gut feeling that it was the thing to do. I guess he and I had the same gut feeling. Come To Me has a stronger reason for being the first selection because it is sending a very strong message of love and service which holds a greater meaning than all else that exist in this world. When said and done, it is asked of us how did you serve, not how much did you accumulate. If you look around you will see someone in need.Katrina, Katrina- Itâs too late that I see no one cared to help, not for you, not for me. No one helped them, when they called, when they called for help. No one helped them, this we could see, we know, we saw it on TV. Come all, sit by my side. Letâs hold hands cause we ...
