Karen Valencic has a diverse background in both corporate/technical and humanistic experiences, therefore, a unique understanding of the dynamics that exist in various work environments. Karen's educational background is Engineering. She earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University. She was then employed by Delco Remy, Division of GM. Her positions during her tenure there include Project Manager in Product Development and Manufacturing Plant Resident Engineer. She worked in that field for 10 years.Karen made a rather radical change in careers in 1990. She founded LifeWorks and began teaching conflict resolution in a wide variety of organizations. Karen began her studies with Thomas F. Crum, author of The Magic of Conflict in 1990. She has completed hundreds of hours of non-credit courses in communications and personal development. In 2000, Karen authored the course and guidebook, Using Conflict Creatively. In 1990, Karen also began her study of aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation. She is current a senior student at the Indianapolis Aikikai. She utilizes her skill in aikido principles in her presentations.Recently, Karen combined all of her life experience into a methodology for performance improvement. She calls it Spiral Impact - The Power to Get It Done with Grace. This is a methodology helps individuals and teams initiate and maintain momentum to complete anything from a communication, decision, or a project.Karen, is a Past-President of the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development. She served on the board for five years and continues to be involved. This gives Karen the opportunity to stay current with the trends in the training/performance improvement industry. She is an Adjunct Professor at Butler University and formerly Adjunct Facility with the Center for Servant Leadership.Karen is Founder and Director of LifeWorks, which she established in 1993.
