I Love The Night album
$11.18 It's no secret that John Mayer is a 21st Century Fox, wining and dining women all through tabloid headlines, so it's about time he delivered an album that traded upon his loverman persona -- and Battle Studies is that record in spades. Retaining more than a modicum of the slick, soul-blues undertones of Continuum, Mayer fashions a modern groove album, a record that maintains a smooth seductive vibe so thoroughly it spills into a one-man band cover of "Crossroads." Mayer remains somewhat of a disciple of Slowhand, but he shows an unusual interest in the big AOR stylings of Journeyman, along with Stevie Ray Vaughan's In Step, creating a coolly clean blend of synths and Strats, one that's as much about texture as it is about song.something perfectly ...
| | Tom Petty Live Anthology CDs (2009)
I Love The Night CD music
$19.34 It's a commonly held opinion among fans and band alike that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' lone live album, 1986's Pack Up the Plantation, didn't quite capture the group at its peak, so there has been a long-standing need for another live set, which 2009's Live Anthology finally provides. Like its closest cousin, Bruce Springsteen's Live 1975-1985, Live Anthology almost overcompensates for the long wait by offering almost too much music, cherrypicking highlights from 1978 to 2007. ...

I Love The Night songs
$11.18 Lou Reed never struck anyone as one of the happiest guys in rock & roll, so some fans were taken aback when his 1984 album New Sensations kicked off with "I Love You, Suzanne," a catchy up-tempo rocker that sounded a lot like a pop tune. After reaffirming his status as one of rock's greatest poets with The Blue Mask and Legendary ...

| | Realistics Go Ahead CD (2003)
I Love The Night songs
$6.69 Like some of their N.Y.C. counterparts, the Realistics stick with basic rock & roll on the Go Ahead EP. It's an elastic mix of punchy guitar riffs, speedy percussion, and energetic, falsetto-friendly vocals. Songs like "Angie" (not to be confused with the Rolling Stones' lament to Angela Bowie) and "Tiny Avalanches" thrive on new wave aesthetics, while the frenzied guitar romp of "It's Alright, It's OK" showcases the Realistics' overall ballsy impression. The Go Ahead EP rollicks its way into the garage rock revolution of the new millennium with no signs of stopping. The Realistics are honest in their approach and keep things simple for a sweet punk-pop package. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
Dave, Dennis, Mike and Will were not always The Realistics but they did always hang around together. These high school buddies spent their weekdays cutting class and their weekends roaming the streets of Manhattan sneaking into clubs and checking out every band they could. Because of their common musical addiction, the guys started trading records with each other--from new wave to punk to obscure records from the 50's. Over the years, they played in bands but never played together until 3 years ago. One night they decided to head down to a practice space to just to make some noise and by the end of the night they had written their first two songs. Three weeks later, they played their rousing first show at a crowded outer-borough SRO that left the audience enraptured and clamoring for more. From these rather humble beginnings, they all decided to quit their other bands and form The Realistics. Dave (drums), Dennis (vocals, guitar), Mike (vocals, bass), and Will (vocals, rollbars, oscillators) started playing around town, talking their way into New York stalwarts like the Mercury Lounge, Brownies and Don Hill's. Word quickly spread about their arresting performances earning them a devoted fanbase addicted ...

| | Sophie Milman Make Someone Happy CD (2007)
I Love The Night songs
$14.29 #1 Jazz album on iTunes Canada, United States and Japan!#4 on Billboard's Jazz charts, and #37 on Billboard Heatseekers Chart!Barely 24 years old, Sophie Milman has already seen and done more than many people twice her age. Since her self-titled debut was released in 2004, it has sold almost 100,000 copies worldwide, hit the Billboard Top 5 in Canada and the Top 15 in the United States, and topped the iTunes jazz charts in five different territories. Meanwhile, Sophie has maintained a rigorous touring schedule – headlining sold-out shows in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Japan, and throughout Europe – and continued to balance her burgeoning music career with her commerce studies at the University of Toronto. In short, it’s been a three-year whirlwind. And, with the release of her much-anticipated new album, Make Someone Happy, the time has finally come for Sophie Milman to reflect on it all. Two and a half years of touring the world have deepened and strengthened the collaboration between Sophie and her band, led by multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Cameron Wallis, and featuring Paul Shrofel on piano, John Fraboni on drums, and newest member Kieran Overs on bass. The opportunity to build a relationship with her bandmates and collaborators – another of the many “firsts” of the past few years – provided a fertile environment for the creation of Make Someone Happy. From the development of a concept to the actual recording of the album, Sophie and her band cultivated an atmosphere of comfort and creativity where Sophie ...
