For singer/songwriter Eric Mizelle, stepping on stage isn't about showing the audience only the best of him. It is about giving everything he has within him to reach them with a message of love. Unconditional love.“I want to be as transparent as possible,” Eric says. “I don't want to paint a picture of something or someone that I'm not or don't intend on being. My insecurities and shortcomings could be the key to someone else's freedom. Why try to pretend that they don't exist?”It is his desire to be honest that is the driving force behind Eric's album, Excavate, his national debut project. Produced by industry veteran Rob Hawkins (Rebecca St. James, Jeff Deyo), the album is Eric's first chance to really express himself.“I had just started writing music and lyrics when I recorded my first album, Beautiful. So, in my opinion, that album did not offer a very big part of who I am. The difference between that project and Excavate to me is worlds different. I feel this album captures a better portion of my true life experiences, not to mention musically it is much edgier and built around stronger melodies. I wanted a rock recording that had depth; you know something that moves you emotionally when you hear it.”Eric wrote seven out of the album's ten songs personally, and co-wrote the other three. The common thread that runs throughout the album is love, specifically God's love for mankind. The songs that Eric wrote and chose for the album tell the story of his discovery of that love.
